Funny, I just had pizza for breakfast, which means I had pizza for dinner last night! So, I am right there with you. :-) Maybe, just maybe, there is some nutrient in the pizza that your body is craving (besides the carbs, fat and calories)? Myabe pizza and chocolate combined are the secrets of the fountain of youth? I wish!!!
Now for a self-plug, because sometimes it's the only way to get noticed in this world. ;-) . . .
I recently created a workbook/journal for women, that is available on Amazon.com. Amazon currently has it listed at $15.00. Booksurge has it listed at $19.99! It is named the Big Girl's Body & Soul Diary.
After years of frustration and health issues, I decided to create a very simple, very real life format, with information on how you can build your own personal healthy life plan, without shots, pills, etc. It makes you look at you, on a raw and basic level and helps you to see where you can make simple changes.
I think things are too complex these days and we are all racked with guilt each time we take a bite of food.
I, for one, enjoyed my Shakey's pizza last night and again this morning. There is one piece left . . . maybe lunch? Or will my husband get to it first?????
smiles, Catherine

LOL Paul! I actually haven't had pizza in about a week now. It's sooooo hard. My boyfriend wanted to order a pizza Saturday night and I thought I'd go nuts! Thankfully, he changed his mind and we had Tacos instead but geeze, the raging, intense cravings have got to go! So, I haven't had a relapse yet. I'm believing in myself and continuing my stride towards a pizza free existance!

I'm assuming the spirit of your goal was to avoid the harmful effects of pizza (rather than pizza itself). As long as your pizza was healthy, the goal wasn't violated. That's the kinda stuff I like to hear my friend!

Another low calorie alternative you might want to consider is Lean Pockets Ultra. They make a supreme pizza "pocket" that's probably around 200 calories, 6 grams of fat, 25 grams of protein, and 19 grams of carbs.

Hi Acting Clouds, I found this little article of information on pizza that you might find interesting. Lycopene is maybe what you are craving? :-) Check out this article and then go to the page linked to give you more healthy suggestions about pizza. I am impressed with all the great information you all have and your support of acting clouds. Especially Paul A. He is VERY protective of this community. smiles, Catherine Lycopene: The Facts * Lycopene is an open-chain unsaturated carotenoid that imparts red colour to tomatoes, guava, rosehip, watermelon and pink grapefruit. * Lycopene is a proven antioxidant. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, which may damage the body's cells. * Research shows that lycopene in tomatoes can be absorbed more efficiently by the body if processed into juice, sauce, paste and ketchup. The chemical form of lycopene found in tomatoes is converted by the temperature changes involved in processing to make it more easily absorbed by the body. * In the body, lycopene is deposited in the liver, lungs, prostate gland, colon and skin. Its concentration in body tissues tends to be higher than all other carotenoids. * Regular high consumption of fruits and vegetables is recommended as part of healthy eating. Epidemiological studies have shown that high intake of lycopene-containing vegetables is inversely associated with the incidence of certain types of cancer. For example, habitual intake of tomato products has been inversely associated with the risk of cancer of the digestive tract among Italians. li>In one six-year study by Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, the diets of more than 47,000 men were studied. Of 46 fruits and vegetables evaluated, only the tomato products (which contain large quantities of lycopene) showed a measurable relationship to reduce prostate cancer risk. As consumption of tomato products increased, levels of lycopene in the blood increased, and the risk for prostate cancer decreased. The study also showed that the heat processing of tomatoes and tomato products increases lycopene's bioavailability. * Ongoing preliminary research suggests that lycopene is associated with reduced risk of macular degenerative disease, serum lipid oxidation and cancers of the lung, bladder, cervix and skin. * Studies are underway to investigate other potential benefits of lycopene - including the H.J. Heinz Company sponsored research at the University of Toronto and at the American Health Foundation. These studies will focus on lycopene's possible role in the fight against cancers of the digestive tract, breast and prostate cancer. Coll. Nutr. 16: 109-126, 1997 Below is a link to a Lifescript article I found regarding pizza benefits. Take care and you all have a great day. http://www.lifescript.com/channels/food_nutrition/food_...enefits_of_pizza.asp
