Ok, isn't the first step supposed to be admitting that you have a problem? Well, here I am, I am admitting it and I need help.

I am so darn addicted to pizza that I don't know what to do with myself. On Monday night, I put away and entire medium "thin and crispy" from Pizza Hut. Tuesday, I ate my boyfriend's left over pan pizza and now tonight, I've just put away 3 slices of a pizza from Sophia's. What's wrong with me?! Why can't I stop putting away the pizza! Confused I know it's bad for me. I know that my waistline is disappearing as the days go by but I can't help myself! I keep eating slice, after slice, after slice.

So, my question for all of you folks is, how did you manage to kick your cravings when you knew that you needed to buckle down and drop some weight? Maybe you were addicted to sweets or soda or whatever but, how did you kick the habit?

I realize your question is about cravings in general. I don't have any advice there, but I do have some about pizza in specific.

Healthy Choice makes a french bread pizza that's actually . . . well, healthy, as the name implies. I've never had the cheese, but the pepperoni is 370 calories, 5 g of fat, 56 g of carbohydrates, and 24 g of protein.

That has helped me a lot, because
a) I love pizza
b) My diet had become very protein-heavy, and I
needed something (that I enjoy) with good
fats and carbs to help restore.

they say you can makes 21 times to make a ANEW habbit, Maybe you need to just substitite for a while.
Now i quit smoking, it's been 14 yrs i was a chimney~!
that was hard.
You can quit pizza way eaer , but i think yyou should quit for a while & then eat it normally. don't deprive yourself of anything (As long as it's not unhealthy)

I feel you on this one. I'm addicted to coke and pepsi; I don't know what to do myself. I saw on Oprah this lady said everytime she got a craving for something she shouldn't eat she substituted with something else. This may work for you, but if only it could work for me.

you could try making pizza substitues...
i am also a big pizza fan, but i find if i put the right spices on a healthy sandwhich (oregano/garlic/red pepper) it helps mimic the pizza taste, obv not exactly, but sitll goood

Quit gradually.

Gradually take yourself off of heavy carbs. It will help shrink your appetite. And pizza won't be craved anymore.

In the last 4 months I've had pizza about 5 times. In FOUR months. I normally had it 5 times per week!

You can do it! Do it gradually.

AC,
I think this will work. Buy two large pizzas. Divide into 7 equal parts. Every two hours eat one of the parts. Eat nothing but pizza, day and night. Soon you will begin to tire of pizza and begin to crave something else. Do NOT give in.

Plan #2 Buy four pizzas and just eat until you can eat no more. Make yourself sick and keep eating. Do this for 2 weeks and you should be cured.
If this doesn't work start over and add triple anchovies. That should do it.

If none of this helps at least you had a heck of a good time for a few weeks.

I have the same problem with diet soda. I drink enough each day to make me violently ill. I have been doing this for nine years and it seems to be working. I get sick much earlier in the day. Somedays' I have to gag the last six pack down.

Seriously, good luck with your addiction. I hope this helps.

I always feel you shouldn't have to give up something you love, unless, of course, it's dangerous to your health. To help curb your appetite for pizza, or any food, drink a 12 - 16 oz glass of water (non-fat milk works even better), before you eat anything. It helps fill you up before you start to eat, so hopefully, you won't eat as much of the food you crave.

I used to wonder how I could eat so many pieces of pizza and still be hungry. Then someone pointed out to me that they put in "high fructose corn syrup" which bypasses the pancreas and does no signal the brain, to let you know you have eaten. Pizza Hut pizza and other pizza's contain "high fructose corn syrup". See Article below...

""""Bray says the problem with HFCS is not only that it is sweeter than other forms of sugar, but also that it does not affect appetite. Fructose adds to overeating because it does not trigger chemical messengers that tell the brain the stomach is full and no longer hungry, like food and drinks that contain regular refined sugar do."""

I'm telling you this is true!!!

Hope this helps.

Hey guys, thanks for all the helpful tips! Today is my 2nd day without pizza. Let's hope I can keep going. I really like the idea of drinking water before eating to make yourself feel full and I've always wondered why I could eat a whole pizza and not be "full". Now, I get it!

Kjack, just reading your post turned me off from eating pizza! Just the thought of eating that much of it is making me a bit queezy!
