I know someone who has them and I don't think they look natural. They are a little too white and perfect-sized. I agree also about them appearing a bit large. The procedure is also supposed to be extremely painful. I think they can be good for some people with serious tooth problems. If you have major chips on your front teeth, extreme discoloration, etc. then you might want to think about it. But for most people, proper orthodontia or cosmetic dentistry are better options. If straightening is the issue, you can get retainers that you only wear at night or Invisalign, or you can have a cosmetic dentist fix some things. If it's whitening, there are many good over the counter products out there, and you can always pay more for a dentist to whiten your teeth. Veneers don't seem worth it to me unless you have an extreme case. I would be weary of anything that you can't reverse. Remember that 50 years ago many elderly people decided to let their teeth rot so that they could get beautiful new dentures. Now, most people would much prefer to have their own teeth than removable ones. Proper care is a better route.

My father was a dentist for fifty years, and "Olivia" just nailed his entire philosophy on the head. Dad always prided himself at being "old school." He shunned the widespread use of things like veneers, dental bonding, tooth whiteners, implants, all of it. Not that they don't have their place, but he was an outspoken proponent of solid, old-fashioned dentistry. Nowadays, the trend is all toward the expensive cosmetic approaches and away from good dental practice and prevention. When done correctly, veneers can look great. But if done poorly, you'll walk away with overly-large, white, chalky teeth that look like Count Dracula. It can be a dicey proposition. Like plastic surgery, you have to do your homework and research, first. There's a ton of shysters and ripoffs out there. In all my years of remembering the man, the only dental advice Dad ever gave me was this: "Always save every tooth you can." I've never forgotten it. www.robertkim.com http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0453647/

I asked my dentist about venners a few months back and he wouldn't recommend it unless my teeth are drastically discolored or corroded. If you're worried about teeth displacement, then you might consider Invisalign. If you're worried about the color, and if it's not too serious, an easy breezy visit to the dentist will deliver promising results. Perhaps, you might have to return for more procedures but it's worth it. Try consulting your dentist to decide the best option. One other thing is, if you're only planning to get it for one or two teeth, the color of the veneers remain the same while the rest of the teeth might turn slightly yellow etc. You could ask your dentist about that to and how to avoid it if you're considering of having Veneers. All the best to a perfect smile! Julie http://www.actorgear.com

Thanks everyone for your responds. I am getting more responses than when this was first posted. A lot of my old threads are getting bump, but its good thing. I am not really concern with veneers, but more of whitening.
