Any time you use glue around the lash area you will experience this unfortunate effect. Have you investigated eyelash extensions? They're terribly expensive and may not be appropriate for your stage purposes, however. You might want to Google eyelash conditioners in the interim (possibly Sephora, etc.), but I have my doubts as to their effectiveness. Anytime you put oil around the eye area you should be extremely careful. Please post whatever you discover here, though. It's a good topic. "Whatever works." www.robertkim.com

Obviously no one here can see exactly what you're doing, so I'm guessing here.
How much are you putting on? Put as LITTLE glue as possible, let it dry for a minute, and then apply them (it's also less messy, and the glue doesn't spread as much). Also, maybe try a different glue. Duo surgical adhesive, perhaps, if you're not already using it.
Are you putting them directly on the lashline? No need to do that, since the audience won't see them up close- leave a little space between.
Also, if you're using mascara as well, that may be adding to the problem. If that's the case, try skipping the mascara. The false eyelashes will make your eyes pop on their own.
P.s. Congrats on the gig!

I use this stuff called Ardell Brow and Lash Growth Accelerator. I had bought it years ago at a CVS, and then they stopped selling it so I kind of forgot about it. I was searching on Amazon recently for a mascara that I wanted when I happened to come across the product and remembered that I had used it before. I use mascara almost every day, and it was really wearing down my lashes. So I bought the Ardell again, and I've been using it for about 2 weeks now. My lashes are definitely longer and thicker. I'm trying to refrain from using mascara so that my lashes can grow, but I used mascara on a couple of days and it didn't hurt. Here's the link if you're interested. It really is a great product. Its not expensive either. http://www.amazon.com/Ardell-Brow-Lash-Growth-Accelerat...id=1222822936&sr=8-1

You should try to look for a different glue. Maybe check if any "natural" beauty product brands have an adhesive that might be less harsh. Other than that, are you curling your lashes? If you curl them regularly, that can make them break off and weaken them. Limit curling them as much as you can. You should also be sure to remove all eye makeup as soon as possible with a gentle makeup remover specifically for the eye area, as it is very sensitive. Another thing to look out for - waterproof mascara. It makes your eyelashes brittle and dehydrates them. It's also harder to get off with makeup remover, making your lashes worse. Good luck!
