Considering that the trend these days is to be as emaciated as humanely possible (just ask the Desperate Housewives and the new 90210 girls), I would say that if industry are saying it, there might be some truth to it. I am curious- what do you weigh and how tall are you?

I haven't been told anything by managers, agents, casting directors, etc., but I have been told by my teachers that I might be too "diminuative" for serious stage acting in high end theatre. Basically, I'm a classic 5'6 ectomorphic ballerina and I'm sometimes dwarfed by girls 2-3 inches shorter than me. The ideal height for girls with my body type is supposedly around 5'8. The good news is that it should be great for TV and film assuming I'm like the rest of the women in my family who don't put on weight until they are in their mid to late 30s. More bad news is that I might need to buy some boobs to go in that direction! haha

p.s. I EAT!!!!

I wouldn't honestly take it personally. As long as your healthy and your wear your supposed to be and your happy who cares. Its not good enough to be average size anymore. to be average now, you have to be skinny. Its stupid. And its also a matter of opinion I've been told Im really thin by some and been told im a little chubby by others. not by industry professionals but by other people.

I'm 5'8",120 lbs, Size 0-2 depending on the designer or brand. Is that really too skinny?

Everyone but my agency and my doctors have told me I was too thin and need to eat a cheeseburger lol.
Now my agency and doctor has commented on how skinny I am but I am not at a dangerous level since my size is natural.
You only see my ribs when I stretch over my head really far and lean back, you only see my back bone when I bend forward though I do have a promenient collar bone that sticks out but not in a ew gross way; just a feminine way.
I am one of those people, most people hate because I eat constantly and everything in site and my metabolism is so high, it burns everything so fast. The only exercise I get is my belly dancing classes.

I have spoken with multiple doctors in regards to my weight and the best thing they all say is just to enjoy it while I am young because it is going to eventually catch up with me....blah blah blah.

I will be straight honest, I am a twig but that is my frame and body style.

I don't see the point though of some people "bashing" per se on SOME small framed women. Yes, there is healthy skinny, and then there is ammaciated that is just wrong on so many levels and there is a huge difference. Some females can admit that it is natural (like I) and its just as hard for us to put the weight on like it is for someone who is trying to loose weight and keep it off.

I'm told that I'm "thin enough" by family, friends, doctors. I don't think they understand how high the expectations are in hollywood. I feel like I still need to lose another 10-20 pounds, but I try not to say that out loud anymore, or people will disagree with me.

I mean, this is the business. I'm totally fine with being super skinny, it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm more than willing to give up food for an acting career. Wink

The world can. It's Hollywood that can't.

For Hollywood, a woman of 5'8 who feels they have ANY shot at leading lady rolls etc, needs to aim for 115 pounds or less.

Scarlett Johansson was this size and still told
to drop about 10 pounds for her latest role.

Hilary Swank was 110 pounds at 5'7 1/2" when she had to bulk up for Million Dollar Baby.

It is a shitty, shitty, shitty thing and I am not defending it at all but it is the way it is for now and it's not going to change. For now anyway.

If the mega-stars have to be that thin, it means there is no choice, unless you are a character actor. Even Nia Vlados (Big fat Greek Wedding) has dropped some serious poundage for her latest role. Why? She wanted to WORK.

You realize this so this post isn't so much for you but others reading.
