Hey all I'm moving to NYC in Jan 2008--yay!! I am a dancer, 28 yrs old. I have gone without health insurance for a few years because I was no longer able to afford it. I had bought my own policy not through my job a the time, and the price just kept going up...... I am not a sickly individual, but had it around "just in case". Right now I am having very minor allergy related health issues and would feel better being in a new place with added stresses and no family to bail me out, to have health insurance "just in case". I'm from Ohio and health coverage is expensive, so I know in NYC it can only be higher. I am also not part of any kind of performers union. Anyone know of any decent health coverage for artists? Any help would be appreciative. Thanks everyone! E.P.

This is technically NJ, but if you happen to go there instead check out the "basic and essential healthcare plan----EPO PLUS" It seems to take care of the everyday person and their needs and is pretty cheap. Its through HORIZON BLUE CROSS.
Also check out the Actors Fund. They have an area devoted to healthcare. Some of their workers are very knowlegeable too. *They dont offer the insurance, but can provide alot of info on where to look.
