Is there anyway to slow down aging, and look fresh and young for as long as possible. I'm sixteen, but when I make my rounds in Hollywood I want to appear 18-21, too, when I start out at 21 for about two years or so. I want to have the chance to play late teenage roles, while still playing early twenties.

Don't drink, smoke, or do drugs! Eat right and work out.

You can look older by changing the way you dress and the way you wear your hair.

How to stay looking young:

(1) Have good genes (not much you can do about that).

(2) Don't smoke, drink or do drugs (to echo the previous poster). Period. It's the quickest way to looking 10-20 years older than you are.

(3) Eat your veggies and healthy meats - your body needs nutrients

(4) Get a good night's sleep - your body needs rest. Minimizes wear and tear to your overall health.

(5) Eat most of your calories earlier in the day - big breakfast, medium lunch, smaller dinner; best way to manage your weight without starving yourself

(6) Exercise regularly

(7) Take care of your skin - don't roast like a turkey in the sun

(8) Manage your stress - do yoga regularly, meditate, etc.

(9) Do things regularly that give you joy (like acting!). A young mind can help keep a young body.

(10) Did I say good genes?

I have stopped aging completely.

However, there is a painting of me in the attic that continues to get older...

OK... I'm going to get down to practical. I've got one word for you.

Exfoliate.

It is my #1 secret. Take ot from a true diva. You gotta slough off the dead skin. Clinique makes an awesome one and I've been doing it every day for years. No one ever thinks I'm even ten years close to my real age (mid 30s). Check out my model portfolio and judge for yourself.

The other posters have given excellent advice. I couldn't agree more.

One thing I'd like to stress: proper skin care. Your skin is your largest organ so you should do as much as you can to protect it. Wear sunscreen every single day (and not just on your face). This is incredibly important if you live in California.

Also, don't forget to moisturize. Many people think that because they have oily skin they can skip this part. Not true! Find a moisturizer that works with your skin type - there are a million out there. The more elastic your skin is, the better it will handle growth, stress and damage.

Finally, you are too young to be worrying about lifting/firming/anti-wrinkle creams, but keep them in mind. It varies by person, but you will probably want to start investigating them in your mid to late twenties.

If you take care of your skin, you will definitely slow the aging process. I ran into an old friend I hadn't seen in 7 years. We ended up grabbing a cup of coffee and he must have told me 10 times that I haven't aged a single day since he saw me last.

There's no question that good skin care if vital.

But I think it's far more important to concern yourself with your INNER health as much as what you put on the OUTSIDE. If you take care of this, your skin will automatically look better.

Things like proper diet, daily exercise, and living as stress-free as possible are major contributors to inner health.

ELDO's advice to "not drink, smoke, or do drugs" is wise, with the additional advice to NEVER, EVER SUNTAN!!! Sun bathing is the single most destructive thing you can do to destroy your appearance, not to mention increasing your chances of getting skin cancer tenfold. Tanning is twice as aging as either drinking, smoking or drugs, put together. If you can avoid it, it's the easiest way to maintain your youthful good looks.

I love that you're worried about aging at 16! If I only I had the foresight when I was your age.

4 rules I live by:
-Workout daily
-Drink tons of water (2 gallons daily)
-Eat small portions 6 times per day and don't cheat!
-Facial a week (vain, not manly, but you're not a man, so don't stress this one)

Bonus rules:
-Glass of wine a day (when you're 21 of course)
-Have fun...and lots of it!
