It had been awhile sense I had a commercial audition... and I'd forgotten how silly they are.

I drive all the way there, and fill out all the paperwork, just so I can do a thirty second audition with no dialogue that really anyone could do. They are just looking for a specific look.

But don't get m wrong, I'm more then happy to do them.

I think his point is that you spend tons of money and years in training to be the best actor you can be, and it all comes down to what you look like; which really, unless you go to a plastic surgeon, you can't control anyway. That's what I thought he meant. I could be wrong. Oh, btw, you have a very neat looking resume. Great site.

I don't imagine you really wanted a response to your note.

Yes, commercial auditions are almost always very brief and often silly. But, with the money they've made from doing commercials, many of my friends have bought really nice houses and put their children through college.

So go to the auditions and be definitely be happy to get them. Sometimes yours is the specific look they're looking for. Sometimes all you need to do is show up to get the job.

Unfortunately, commercials are not the only acting jobs where a look (type) is most important in making decisions. We would like to think our training and resumes are the biggest deciding factors. But we all know it's not always the case and it's across the board with all acting venues.

NonStageMom is right about what my point was.

And, unfortunately, Amo37 is right about a look having a lot to do with most auditions... but when we actually have sides to perform it doesn't seem like it.
