We are thinking of getting up early Sun. am and driving from South Georgia-have never done anything like this before. Did you also see that there are Lion King audtions the day before at the same place. It looks like the Mary Poppins auditions are fairly straight forward-but we really have not done these before. I feel like we need to take advantage of this since usually we would have to go to New York.
Good luck!!!

We're driving over from Birmingham Sunday morning as well. Can't pass up the opportunity to audition so close to home. We went to NYC last year for the Annie auditions and loved the experience. DD did pretty well too, of course not well enough to be cast :-)

Are you going to do the Lion King auditions? We're skipping it, party b/c my other two daughters have a different audition here in Alabama... but also b/c oldest DD did the Lion King audition a couple years ago. DD is very blond/blue/pale and I don't think she's what they're looking for. But it's a great experience --- much different than any other auditions we've done.

PM me if you want details... or if you'd like to try to connect at the Mary Poppins auditions.

My daughter went to a Lion King audition in New York. She too is not the right 'type,' but we were able to be there, and getting in front of casting directors is always a good thing. Interestingly she was called for a Mary Poppins audition from this. After all, it's all Disney. So my feeling is generally—if you can do an audition, then you should. You never know what can happen in this business!

I totally agree with you about getting whatever audition experience you can. Lion King was VERY useful for DD on several levels.

First, until that point she had gotten a role in every show she ever auditioned for. Lion King was a nice "wake-up call".

Second, Lion King was her first audition where she had to learn and sing a song, rather than come in with her own song. This was a very humbling experience....

short story - DD and friends were in the first group of auditioners. The parents were all gathered outside the audition space, separated not by a door but a curtain - so we could hear everything. With LK, all the kids sang together and then on the 2nd go 'round the CD would point at individual kids to sing lines as they came up in the song. Every so often there's be a bit of silence. All the parents were saying "ooohhhh, I feel sorry for whoever that is..."

Well, turned out it was my DD! She came out crying and I had to do alot of consoling (esp when her good friend got called back), but it was a very good learning experience for her that not all auditions are alike and you can't book everything!

Hey Leah,

I think we're now both posting on both threads on this. My DD was #21, sang Belle from Beauty and the Best. She's also called back for Wednesday!

Congrats to Jordan - I remember her name being called, but can't put a face with the name.
