Hey-
So today I decided to be very bold. Last week I had an audition I felt strongly about at Ripley's Believe it Or Not in Times Square. They invited me to visit the museum and I did. My question is, if you are given a card etc and you feel strongly about an audition is emailing or calling appropriate? On one hand,I wanna be respectful but on the other I feel I should be a go gettter. Please share your expieriences and thoughts about this with me
Thanks,
Ben

If they want you, they'll call you. Forget about it and concentrate on your next audition.

I wanted to follow-up on this with a question that's been gnawing at me. It totally makes sense that you should audition and forget it...

But I've read on this board that you shouldn't send a thank you note or any other kind of communication afterwards. I'm wondering why. In every other line of work a thank you note is welcomed or, in many cases, expected after a job interview. Why not theatre?

And is it every appropriate - say, after a call-back when you're in the final small pool of candidates?

To a certain extent "if they want you they will call you"is a mindset. I mean this buisness has alot to do with tenacity and going after your dream. There should be a marriage of following up that does not come across as desperate. If anything else, I am at least taking this seriously.

So, would it be appropriate, for instance, to send a quick note that says "thanks for the call-back audition. It was a lot of fun" (or something like that).

I'm asking b/c my daughter, the actress, asked if she could write on after a call-back this week. I wasn't sure what to tell her...

We're in the south, where everyone writes thank you notes for everything it seems!

We do send a ty for bookings, never for an audition or callback. CDs would be inundated, and possibly annoyed, if they received ty notes for auditions and callbacks.
