Does anyone do this? I hear you should, but I never have? Seems to me like one more thing clogging up the cranky CD office. But does anyone use them, does it help?

I do it, especially if it's my first time auditioning for them. I send a Hallmark card with a handwritten letter with my business card in it.

Or a postcard is good too. And be sure to send out Christmas cards every year! Keep a list of contacts. Be organized with that- that is your most important tool.

I am glad someone brought this up...because I have been wondering about it.

It seemed like when I first got into this...about 5 years ago or so...it was talked about quite frequently. It was always a must-do.

But I haven't heard of it in awhile, and was actually getting a little nervious it fell into a don't do list...or a taboo.

Glad its still ok. I useually do it.

Gotta check up on things you assume are vanguard however. This stuff changes all the time. Just a few short years ago you were seen as unproffessional if you submitted a color headshot!!! and then when the proticol changes, it seems to change all at once, and seemingly with no warning.

do you send thank you's to cd's that you have had cb's or bookings or just any cd that has ever auditioned you? What about cd's that have called a few times for auditions even if you haven't booked yet? What to do you normally write? I appeciate any feedback, as I have wondering this too for some time. Thanks.

I send thank you letters with my business card enclosed to CDs that I've auditioned for the first time regardless if I get the job or not.

I usually write something along the lines like "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to audition for your project. I hope we may continue working together in the very near future!"

Every month or every two months, depending on my budget, I send postcards with my headshot, contact info, and agent info to Commercial Cds.

thanks for your helpful reply. Would it be weird if the auditions were a few months ago, since we'll just be starting to send out thank you's? There is one cd in particular I'd like to send one to because he really liked my dd and told her agent that as well as me. She didn't book the commercial but since he showed interest in her I'd like to thank him and also keep her on his radar, he also casts for tv. In that case enclosing a photo would be good right? And for the older auditions I'd like say thank you for?

In the case of it being months, a postcard with your daughter's headshot, contact info, and a printed Avery sticker that says "Now Represented by (Insert agency)" with their phone number on it.

If you're a girl, and the guy was flirting with you, use lipstick and stamp your lips on it, and write in cursive "Always thinking about you "your name" Speak to you later Mr. "Name" xoxoxox"

Okay just kidding, that would be highly unprofessional

I would not send thank you notes to CDs for kids' commercial auditions unless they book. Can you imagine if everyone did that? They would get hundreds a day. If it is for a larger role in a film or for TV, maybe if there were a few callbacks.

We have only sent a note after a booking, with a photo from the job. The kids write it themselves and sign it.
