Has anyone else noticed that the casting boards have gotten slow this week? Is that because of Halloween?

Or is it just me.

I haven't noticed anything that substantial. It's probably due to Halloween, like you said.

It has been very slow for my D...and I'm sure that it will get slower with the writer's strike although it has also been slow for my son and he is non-union.

Did the OP mean that the casting notices have been getting slow or that the discussions on this board have been getting slow?

Well the lack of actual castings would make a lack in boards on casting.

Bigred123, I meant "casting boards", as opposed to message boards. Casting boards like LA Casting, Actors Access, ect.

I'm glad it's not just me.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm glad to hear it is slow for everyone as that means I don't have to worry about whether or not my son is being chosen to audition.

We have manager and 2 agents in NY and LA.
I talk to our manager every other day and she is saying that she never saw it so slow and she's been in the business for 20 years. We are trying to make the best of it - doing a lot of family outings.

I've noticed the same trend..there was a time in BackstageNY loads of casting notices..now there's fewer projects being produced. Could be the result of the Holiday season...

Ok I'm glad that my DD and I are not alone. Whenever I'm in the city I pick up the latest copy of backstage, well yesterday when I picked it up......it was soooooo thin that it was scary!

I'll bet it's super slow now with the strike for thoses who have studio auditions. But I am only reading for student and indie stuff right now. It has picked up for me.

I was at a student film audition and I was chatting with another actress..I recalled a few years ago, actors would POO-POO student films and be reluctant to do student films..Hmmm..My feeling is, acting is an opportunity to fine tune your craft. If you are fortunate enough to have your pick of union roles or indie film roles great!..but being snooty serves no purpose in turning down a student film..these new film makers are just as dedicated to their projects like everybody else.
