Im back to asking silly ques again, but this is a new area to us. When your agent/manager sends over specific sheet music for a bway audition is it also nessacery for the child to prepare other songs as well. My ds only has one that he has been working on in addition to the one he is requested to learn for the audition. Thanks!

It's always a good idea to have other songs prepared BUT if they sent you music, that is what they expect to hear.

If they want to hear more, they may ask for something else BUT usually, they will have the child sing scales to get a feel for their range and projection.

It's good to bring your "book", a notebook that includes music in the right key for your child's repetoire. I think it would depend on how old your son is as well.
For my teen dd, the last MT audition was only did the music they sent her. For others, she has done more than one song (different types) from her book.

I know I need to let it go but my dd was asked to sing the first few lines of her song over after she was done. Is this good or bad? She was told it's because she sang them so well but I know sometimes they say things to be polite.

Momof4Nyc we are fairly new to Musical Theatre as well but from what Ive been told each aud is different just like any other aud. For example my son was asked to prepare a song they requested ahead of time but when he was done they had him do scales and he was the only one that was asked to do so. So I guess theres no telling what means what except for time and a phone call if were lucky. Its better not to over analyze things because youll drive yourself crazy. Good Luck!
