Solid colors that compliment your skin tones. You are right about logos, all red and all black. Also, no all white, since that will wash you out on camera. Layering is okay, with the white red or black only being an under/accent color.

Bright colors are fine if they are the right color for you. I actually have a solid bright pink two piece sweater type of set that looks great on camera. Also, bright turquoise blue looks great, especially if you have blue eyes. I learned a lot about differernt colors for different skin tones when I took an on-camera commercial class where we all brought our own wardrobe choices to see what worked and what didn't work on camera. For instance, I have fair skin and I could never wear orange. Another classmate who was very dark skinned wore orange beautifully and it showed that way on camera. Now red looks fantastic on many people, but all red vibrates on camera. But, a red blouse/shirt under a neutral color jacket or over blouse/shirt does work. If you're not sure, a good idea is to try on differernt looks and film yourself at home. That helps a lot. Oh, and stay away from the wrinkled cotton look that is/was popular with the younger set, as sold at places like American Eagle. Looks okay in person if you're going for that look, but on camera it's awful and very distracting. Looks like you slept in it for years, unless, of course, that is the character you are trying to portray! lol Another idea is to type in "auditions" on youtube and you'll see a ton actors auditioning.
