Disney Broadway auditions?

My very young dd has an appmt. for Grinch next week. Her first NY audition and she is very unexperienced. Can anyone whose child attended the Open Call offer even the slightest suggestion of how I can prepare her even a bit for the dance call? She is very excited, but I truly feel she will be overwhelmed and cut immediately.

Any input would be genuinely appreciated!

Is it a dance call? If not, she will probably just have to sing.

Yes, it is a dance call first, then they will ask kids to stay and sing if they choose. I have been told by others who went last week (we did not) that the dance is fast and difficult. Just tell your DD to do her best, have fun and SMILE!!! That's all you can do. Relax; it'll be fine and fun no matter what happens.

Semaj-
My daughter attended the Grinch open call. She felt the dancing was very easy, but she has been dancing since she was 3, does competitive dance, performs with the local professional ballet company, etc. I heard kids say that they did not get the dance steps at all, but yet they received a callback. After listening to Rachel Hoffman from Telsey at the audition talk to the parents, it was obvious that they are wanting a very specific "look". It seemed that out of the kids that fit the "look", then they would choose kids who they felt had the talent required for the show. My daughter had a great time at the audition and the people were very nice.

dancing5678,

I noticed that you are from Memphis, did you come to NYC just for the open call?

What type of look do you think they were looking for?

The girls we know who made it to the end last year (measured and all) haven't heard anything yet - I'm guessing they're being called directly to callbacks. I remember callbacks being after 4th of July last year, if I'm not mistaken . . .

When are the agent auditions this week? I've heard Tuesday, but are there other days, too? Good luck to everyone going!

question for anyone there today. We were there for a 12:30 pm audition. It looked like the group before us had all the kids sing after dancing. Was anyone there then, and know if that is true? For my dd's group they only had about 1/3 or so of the kids sing. Just wondering.....
