as many of you may know the grinch auditions are coming up. I was wondering if it is worth it to go up if i would have to miss reherasal for a current show im working on. I am 15 but am very small i pass as 12 easily and in my heart i want to go but i am not sure if I can miss 2 rehearsal for 2 different shows...HELP! also for the grinch do they typcally see non union kids?

There is a non-union call out for The Grinch. Check out notice on NY Castings. Is your family willing to move to New York if you are cast? Are they willing to go out on tour with you if you get cast in a tour? You need to make sure that all of that is in place before you even consider auditioning.

If you really want to come (make sure you meet the height requirements) then ask your directors if you can miss rehearsals. They may say fine or they may say you will lose the role if you leave. Then you have to decide.

yes, my parents would support me on tour or moving to nyc if that was the case. About height limit, it is not posted...from what i can see I am guessing it is 4'11 but i know of people who were 5 feet so i am 5'1" and your right i need to look into the height limit. thank you so much!

they have never posted a height limit, but based on the last 2 years they seem to limit around 5'. The taller parts are hard to get though because usually they move the current cast into taller roles and replace the shorter parts with new kids. ( at least they did last year). At the final cut last year they basically went across the board and cut the tallest ones. I know of one child who was in it last yr who wasnt quite 5' and was told they would love to have them back but just wont be able to due to their getting tall.....but who knows. since there is also the tour maybe they will be more flexible???

Yes, I know for a fact that for all of the previous productions of Grinch the height limit has been 5'...I know of a girl who was over this and was actually turned away. I personally don't think there should be a height limit for this...I mean, yes the Who's are small but in the movie they are all different shapes and sizes. There should be some tall who's!! But, oh well...
