Hello and welcome!

The first thing any agent will look for is experience and training. Here's a link with info on getting started and finding an agent.

Hey, Shelby. I'm from Cary. The parents are still there.
Just wondering how it would work- you'd be living in NC and traveling to NY for castings? Would a NY agent consider repping someone who's not local? I'm also wondering how it'd work for the reverse situation- looking for an agent in NC (if it's even worth it) for the Wilmington area, if there's anything even going on there.

We are from Shelby, NC but we plan to secure a place in NYC within the next 6 months. I realize she will have to be there to get the best opportunity available. Her vocal coach in NY says she will go places with her voice. Shes singing Opera as well as theatrical songs.

I dont know if its allowed but heres her website, let me know what you think of her singing. They are very amature from a digital camera.. Im not bragging or trying to promote her I teach her to always be humble and be nice to everyone. http://www.jordanbeaver.com

Servo South, I just looked at your daughters web site and was distressed to see you have WAY too much personal info there. Having our kids in the public domain can make them a target. PLEASE don't give any creep with a computer your home address, and your daughters school!! List only a cell phone number and email. If someone wants to contact her legitimately, these are they ways they will contact you. They DO NOT need or even want your home address. No legitimate agent or manager or casting director expects to be able to locate a minor they do not know at their home address. There is not really any benefit to having it there, and a million reasons to take it down. By all means promote her - it's the biz, but please remember to protect her too. It can be hard to know when starting out how and where to promote our kids for the greatest effect, without also putting them in danger from the many people and scams out there waiting to take advantage. A few resources you will find VERY helpful for you and your daughter as you branch out are: bizparentz.org who are a non-profit organization for kids in the entertainment industry - there is a invaluable information on their site. Also the PARF board on delphiforums.com which is for parents of children in the biz, with very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful moderators and posters. I don't think we would still be in the game without the information and support of the people associated with these two sites.
Good luck to you and your daughter with your move to NY! Research and learn as much as you can before you make the move and hit the ground running!

I went to your daughter's website. She is a very talented girl. But like the previous poster, I was stunned to see your address. This is a public site, you should either change her website, or delete the link from your post.

I'm new here so maybe I just haven't caught the fever yet, but are you really thinking of moving your family to NY because of your 9 year old? I agree she's talented, but, we go to auditions and there are 100's of really talented girls at every one.My kids really talented and everything, but I can't get her an agent. And, in like a year, she's going to be 5' tall and no one on broadway will want her on their stage.
I don't mean to offend you, but I hope your not putting too much hope on your kid.

Hey Servo South

My two daughters have been with Jordan Gill & Dornbaum for an extremely long time. Robin is lovely (commercial agent) and Jeff (film, television agent) is wonderful man. Just tell your daughter to be herself. If they think she has what it takes then they will sign her.
