With gas prices being so high, how far are you willing to drive for an audition for a NON-PAYING job?

I am pretty much willing to drive anywhere, but my parents are too keen on me driving further than an hour/45 minutes... especially since I'm awful with directions, LOL. I have gone to NYC for some auditions, which is a three hour train ride from my house. Not too bad. Wink

On weekends I'll drive into Manhattan, weekdays I'll take the train. About an hour either way. If I'm already at work I meet my son at Grand Central and take him the rest of the way.
I don't know how spred out the casting locations are in LA but an hour is all I need.

Hi Brent

I know you are talking about non-paying jobs but I can't resist sharing this:

3500 miles (roundtrip) to audition for Oliver Stone, and a role in W. Yeah, I know, I know.

For Oliver Stone, I drive a long way too... but 3500 is a VERY long way!

For non-paying jobs, I pass on west side auditions, and anything farther south then downtown LA. I line in The San Fernando Valley by the way, Sun Valley. sometimes meet people at auditions that are willing to go much farther. I used to go farther.

I stopped bothering with that awhile ago just for that reason-the cost and the time. To me its not worth it unless its a paying job.

Greenlake/UW area (north)/Bellevue, Mercer Isl. if a bus can get me there, that includes the n. Seattle area. This includes paying jobs too. It cost too much money to have a care if you live in the city, plus you have to deal w/insurance, gas, parking-$200-1000.00.

Considering I live in Sherman Oaks... I probably wouldn't drive to Santa Monica or Long Beach for a non-paying job. I find myself not even submitting to those roles because I don't want to make the drive.
