hi. i'm currently a senior in high school and i will soon (as in, like 3 weeks) be auditioning for a bunch of schools. i'm going into acting/drama/theatre/whatever and i was wondering if anyone has ever heard the play AND TURNING STAY by KELLIE POWELL on like an "overused monologues" or "monologues we never want to see again" list. thanks a lot in advance

just do what you do well. Sometimes we hear the same things over and over but if it's done with freshness and authenticity and done well - it can lock! Take a big breath!! If you have done the prep work and you go in believing in yourself, you will be fine. Don't second guess yourself at this point - there's no time! Just take a big breath and DO IT!

My daughter is a junior and I know in looking through a bunch of college websites and collegeconfidential.com (I think that's the name) they actually have a few lists of what not to do for your monologue and song. I don't remember seeing the play you mentioned but that doesn't mean too much. I think those that are overdone are pretty obvious and from current (last 5-10 years) Bwy plays.
You might want to check out the specific college websites to see if they have a list and also collegeconfidential. Good luck!
