I have an audition coming up for a role in a play that does very little speaking. I'm talking only a word or two at a time. The role is, however, a lead, and based on the stage directions in the sides, needs to be quite animated and make a lot of faces. I am not sure if I will be reading with other actors. Either way, is it acceptable to move at theater auditions? I know that for television and film you usually stand still since the audition is usually filmed. Usually, I don't do too much moving around in theater auditions, but the sides chosen usually don't require it. What do you all think?

I auditioned for an off broadway play, only my second for a play, all other auditions were for films and commercials where most of the time you had to stand in front of a camera.

I was paired with another actor and we read for each other. The other actor went first and I read for him. He was GREAT, very prepared, hit all the right words, changed his range and best of all used the stage, pulling up a chair, changing his stage position. He was asked to stay and I was thanked and excused.

So, for a stage audition or one without a camera I would diffinetly move and use the room as a prop.

I hope the other guy got the part, he was very professional.
