Were the callbacks going to be in NYC do you know? Were they for the Chicago show or if you audition it is pretty much for where ever they want you to go? (I would assume it is where ever they want you) Anyone - when they have auditions in different cities do they ever bring all the girls they are looking at to one location to see how they all look together?

This callback is in NYC, I don't think she was given anymore information then that, just where and when to be there. I would assume when they get to the final call all the girls would be together, but I don't know. I know they video tape the auditions sometimes too, so maybe they will make final decisions off of that.

We went to NY for Mary Poppins tour callback, even though point of origin was Chicago.

Did you have to pay to go to NYC for Mary Poppins auditions for a tour out of Chicago? I understand if the originating city was NY, but this is for Chicago (right?)

I heard that they were going to have a callback in Chicago and one in NYC. I don't know if they will eventually put them together.

Yes, we had to pay to go to NYC. There were kids there from all over, including Canada.

Anyone know the end result of yesterday's Girl's audition in NYC? My DD was cut pretty quick. Unfortunately tap is not her strongest point..especially when you make the stupid mistake of buying brand new shoes for an audition and not breaking them in!!!

GL to all who auditioned,
xo

There was a group of about twenty girls left. All shapes/sizes. They danced and sang. They may, or may not, be called in for the mid-October callback.

Auditions were for both NY future replacements and the Chicago "tour". The auditions were filmed.

Did anyone from the NY auditions this weekend get any indication on when the callback for the Billy's and Michael's would be?

Bessie - thanks for the info. I hope you had a great time while you were in NY and got your money's worth out of the audition.

Yes, the waiting gets easier Itsad! And I bet it is easier for child. Somewhere in the back of your mind - you are thinking if this happens then it will change our lives. So it is always better to let go, move on and tentatively keep the call back date open so you can be surprised.

oh i so hear u iltsad!..i think the best and only thing u can do is to just go, do your best and truly just forget about it!!! if it happens (which seems to sometimes take weeks even months-read others' posts) then how unexpectedly exciting! i really think it's harder for us parents...we must learn from our wise children who seem to have such a grand capacity to live so easily in the 'here and now' Smiler

Thanks GreatDay and 4MyBellofBroaddway! Yeah it is SO much easier for my DD! LOL!!! It was her first "big" audition for something like this, so we are just excited that she has gotten as far as she has.

4MyBellofBroadway - Sorry about the shoes, but you have a great attitude and it's so true how we can learn from our children in terms of post-audition dwelling!
I was wondering whether it was obvious that many of the girls already knew the choreography and whether that makes a big difference.

We weren't there last weekend, but like CAmom3 said earlier, the cd's have definately gotten wise to kids being taught the combo before the audition, and have been mixing things up in order to spot the truly trained dancers from kids who just know the combo. I guess what I'm trying to say is knowing the combo before the auditon can only get you so far; if you're not a trained dancer, eventually that fact will make itself known.
