I attended Barbara McNamara's open call last week for the feature film Duplicity, to star Clive Owen and Julia Roberts, written/directed by Tony Gilroy. I have known Barbara for years, and I just have to say that she is just one of the NICEST, classiest people in the entire casting buisness.
This is ONLY time in history that I have EVER been to a huge cattle call, where the main person in charge took the time to personally meet and greet every single SAG actor that came. It was so refreshing that she took her time, and didn't rush each person out as soon as they got your paperwork. I have been to SO MANY open calls where they just plonk you out on the street as soon as they get your headshot/resume. Is so nice of her to take the time and shake everybody's hand, and at least get a few personal words to every single SAG member individually.
I'm really glad that Barbara is doing extras casting on this movie, and it's not just going to be some Casting Networks popularity contest.
Here's to Barbara! Cheers! You're the best!!!

Well actually, Barbara was seeing NON SAG from 2pm to 4:30pm that day. Because the SAG quota on feature films is a lot higher than that on television, they will probably have more union work than non-union work on Duplicity. However, Barbara is considering NON SAG for this project as well, if you're interested in working on this, you can send a copy of your headshot/resume with cover letter to her office...

You might want to mark the envelope Attn: Duplicity. Good luck!

Thank you VERY much. So even if other films are SAG only, if you're non-union, should you show up to auditions/submit anyways?

Yeah, when a casting office holds an open call for extra work on a feature film, they usually have a time slot when they see non-union as well. If you have any sort of special skills/abilities, just make sure you note them on your resume, they might give you a SAG waiver because of that.

Almost a month gone. . .do you think they're still accepting admissions?

I've submitted my info to her - thanks guys and gals. I wonder how the agency keeps track. I always hear conflicting things about agencies -- some keep a database, some you have to put your face literally in their face every day or week because they get so many submissions, etc.
How does Barbara keep track? Does she re-use people? What does she look for in repeats?
