Julie Taymor did not say that Evan Rachel Wood was out, the person writing the article made that conclusion based upon the casting notice. Evan Rachel Wood thinks she is still in the role - there is a You Tube video from a few weeks ago with an interview of her telling us she is playing the role and going into rehearsals in June. I guess someone needs to tell her she didn't get the part I find it odd that the casting notice for Monday's audition is identical *word for word* to the one that was released last July. Same three openings. They could have at least changed it up a bit!!! Maybe if the kids are lucky, one or two will get a break in some form.....but really....Does anyone believe a production of this magnitute (One of the most heavily invested productions on Broadway to date) has any intention of giving a lead to a non-equity person with no stage experience and/or following? Question: Are false pretense casting notices a legitimate tactic devised to create hype prior to ticket sales? It seems to be surfacing that this may be the case with another non-union production involving teens. Is it possible that our kids are being exploited for media purposes? My understanding is that they are required to post precast roles for Equity notices only, not non-equity. Any feedback from some of the vetran actors would be greatly appreciated!
