For your own sanity, do not go to any unpaid auditions etc without a look at the script etc FIRST. You can burn off gas going all over town and a lot of the time, these sort of gigs are not worth a damn. Try to get a contact number, a look at the script, a meet and greet over the phone beforehand. Make sure the project will be worth your while. Was the email sent out with 100+ others and appears to be an open call? I hate those and will not attend. Those sorts of ones they do not even seem to look at the submissions- just send out a mass email to everyone who submitted out of laziness. Will it be a cold read? Those are a hell no to me. These student scripts can really suck. What are they shooting with? Will it look good on a real? What sort of exposure is it? Do they seem professional? If they are not obliging with that info, it smacks of unprofessionalism and therefore will most likely be a waste of time- and gas!! Remember though, they can seem to have it together and still be losers. I actually went to an audition at that exact school and they had about 12 of these little brats in the room. One of them actually turned to the guy next to her during my audition and started snickering etc. Such a pity as up til this point, they had really been trying so hard to be professionals. They blew it having her in the room. There it is....

Miss Stone is right... though I must confess that I don't always follow her advice, I think it is very good advice. If it's an audition that isn't too far off, I will often go without knowing what's up with it.
Oh, and Brent, I would NEVER drive to UC Riverside for a student film audition.
