Hey everybody! That audition yesterday was kind of weird. You had no idea what they were looking for besides African American and 8-12 yrs old. It wasn't untill I got home and looked at Actors Access that I saw they wanted all the girls to be slightly overwight. My daughter actually need a couple of lbs to be her ideal weight for her age lol. They are auditioning in NY for 3 days and then they are going to LA for 3 days. I don't feel good about this one but we'll see what happens!

I know. I had submitted my daughter the first time they posted on Actors Access. Oh well. Maybe they might change their minds again depending on how many people they actually got to see. Who knows? I know it's cliche but the show must go on.

I totally agree with you, it was weird yesterday but then they turn around and are asking for slightly overweight, I really didn't see any slightly overweight girls yesterday, so who knows what they are looking for!!

I know. We were originally considering it until our agent said yesterday that they were looking for kids with a little meat on their bones. They found that out when they went to schedule an appt for her.

I hope that is true for everyone that went since it sounds like no one really fit that description and didn't know they had changed it. I have to say, I've never seen the play or movie, so I don't know if that is an important aspect of the show or not, but I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for everyone that they will change that, especially if they saw some kids that they may have really liked, but didn't meet that description! GOOD LUCK!!!

I hope they change their minds as well, especially when the kids can put on a costume to fit that discription. We will know soon enough because rehersal starts next month. Good luck to those that auditioned including my girl!

Well...A month later and I still haven't heard anything. Did anybody get a callback? There is an article on the play in jet magazine. They have already cast Terrence Howard, Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls), Phylicia Rashad and James Earl Jones. Now tell me....Why do they want slightly overweight children? It seems a little out of place.
