Aw JeGo, sorry to hear about your experience as Disney characters. I think it must have changed a lot since then, because I have some friends who have scored character jobs and they have all told me that they absolutely love it. And yes, I've heard much about how the audition process is simply a "wigging" trial. I heard that they do some typing out first because there's always big turnouts at auditions, and then they choose who they want to try wigs on.

Hey Jactressk....sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I've not been on the board for a couple weeks and missed your post. You Bet...email me your name and the day and show time you want to attend. If you come to the 1st or 3rd show of the day I'll set up a meet and greet with some of the cast after the show in the lobby. Currently we're on a 5 day show schedule. Friday-Tuesday. After 1/25, we go to a 4 day schedule of Thurs-Sunday. Hope that helps...if you already came to the show, let me know. Best regards Jack

If anyone could help me Im not sure what to do or what to expect reguarding the whole process, what happens ect. please help!! just so I know before thanks xxx
All auditions are different. I auditioned for the Paris "Buffalo Bill Wild West Show" and read, sang and also rode a horse. For Aladdin, I sang my normal audition song, "Wonderful" from Wicked. They gave me sides for the Narrator/Sultan and asked me to read them at the call-back. I feel that the best thing for any audition is to RELAX!!! Have fun and enjoy the process, it'll show and your confidence will be a big asset.

Actually Mimi T., I'm glad you bumped up my thread =]! I'm always up for talking about Disney auditions! I could be wrong, but I don't think this kind of audition would be run like American Idol. I bet a lot of people will show up because Disney entertainment jobs are very competitive, but I don't think it would turn out to be a "camping out" type of ordeal. I'm sure that for the Princess Look-A-Likes they will quickly dwindle down the numbers by typing people out. The Female Vocalists audition will probably be run the same way as any musical theatre audition: sign your name and wait your turn. I couldn't give you time estimates because I haven't yet gone to a Disney Parks audition. Still honing the skills =]. If anyone has any more information, please share! Also, I know that there was a "Disney Cruise Line Audition Tour" that took place recently. Did anyone attend any of the auditions, and if so, how did it go?

it may be different since this is for work out of the country and not in town, but here's what i can tell you:
1. they do occassionally audition in canada. see if there are any auds closer to home first.
2. i've been to several calls at the park recently. for the new parade, they estimated over 800 showed up on saturday (the open call) and another 250 showed up sunday (current cast members). in the end, they had 120 slots, and 110 or so of them went to current cast members. i was one of the final few girls for alice who mad eit through all of the cuts.
i also went for the fuzzy auditions. i think they said over 400 showed up, and it got dwindled down to about 150, i believe. this happened outside in the early morning. we took our shoes off and got measured (height) on a scale outside, and were given a yes or no. they remembered me from the parade audition the week before and i was kept through a lot of the day and then lost it on a scene improv.
i think the first day, for the parade, it was a 9am sign in. i probably got there around 745 and was in the first 20 people there. by 830, there were hundreds of people in line.
for the fuzzy call, it was an 8am signin. i probably got there at 7am, and was in the first 40. by 730, the line had at least 200 in it.
don't worry, if you get there before the sgn-in time, you'll get something out of it, not just trned away.
so... for the princess audition, i'd get there by 845am or so. and vocalist, if you are done by then, get in line by 1pm.
3. because most of their current cast members at the park is made up of local college kids, the lines will probably be a tad shorter because most kids will want to stay in school (or should). they will still be long, but not as long.
4. make sure you are EXACTLY what the notice says, otherwise, it will be wasted. i hate to say this, but it's true. you must be perfect in every way for a princess. face casting stinks. you stand in a line and they walk by and smile at you and you show personality back. but you can't overshine, that's bad, but you must display personality. and look just like the characters you are right for.
the vocal auditions may not be AS specific on looks, but they really do stick to those height requirements.
they will probably either measure everyone first or do a face casting first and then measure.
now i'm just waiting for that darn singer contract to open up!!!!

oooh yes, so that's a different story. my guess is that the singing call will be more crowded, but i'm not really sure. better to get to both early. i never auditioned for Hong Kong but I did visit there, so if you email me privately, I can send you photos and such! i didn't meet any of the face characters though. cinderellas castle could fit inside the walkway of her castle in florida it's SOOOOOO tiny!
my guess? if you got to each one about 60-90 minutes before sign-in starts, you'll be good to go.
now, if the ad said "be prepared to stay all day long," they REALLY do mean it, if you are so lucky. when i was in for the parade about a month ago, i got there crazy early, like i said, and didn't leave until after 5pm! bring snacks. while the auditors will take a lunch break, you won't. you'll sit around for an hour wondering what's going on and then suddenly it'll all be moving again. for us that day, they had taught the dance combo, which the 200 or so of us ran through over and over and over again for an hour!

I dont know if this is what you were looking for, but I've been all the way through the audition process for a face character. I initially went to a Hong Kong/Paris casting call. There were a lot of people in attendance, and mostly dancers. They make you fill out some paperwork, then they ask you to line up. They give you the option of choosing some Disney characters you would like to act out, around 5 total. They give you some time, and eventually make you act out each character to music while they watch. You dont do this by yourself, but with a group of other auditionees. They have judges marking your paperwork as you perform. Mostly, they want to see enthusiasm and big motions. Originality is also important. At the end of everyone's performance, they will call out the people who stay and the people who did not pass. This is where my story gets interesting! They did not call my name in the first list. But a quiet gentleman, who I found out later was the head over at Disney casting, stood up and said that additionally he would like to speak to me. Apparently, they didn't want me overseas at Hong Kong or Paris, but they were interested in having me over at Disneyland Anaheim. This was good news to me : ) Now, the next step in my audition process was to audition for the character they selected for me (They use a photo and a computer to measure bone structure and likeness to the character of interest). Mine was Sleeping Beauty. It took weeks for them to call, which they warned me about...But they did call. This was a much smaller group of girls. There were a few to audition for each princess, Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. I think there was one girl there for Bell, too. We were given sides this time, and there was no dancing. We each had to perfom solo in front of the judges (mostly the same from the other casting), like we were telling a story to little children. Again, they wanted enthusiasm but they also wanted to see if we could get the style and sound of our character. After everyone went, we were split up. I discovered the other group had been sent home, and that the group I was with had passed onto the final round of the audition which was....get this.....FULL Hair and wardrobe! It was about 7 of us. We each got to wear the hair and dress of our character and take photos in it. And that was it. We were told that, just like last time, we will be called when we are needed. But that it might take a long while. That was a few months ago, and I havent heard back from them. I have since moved to Hollywood, which is much farther from Disneyland that I initially was. I would still take the job if they called me, so I hope that they do. I hope this helps someone prepare for their Disney audition!
