Ah, I see. So if you send in a video audition, they probably keep your information to see if you show up at one of the live auditions. A friend of mine was working in Hong Kong for awhile, and she absolutely LOVED it. I would LOVE to work on the cruise line. There's just something about performing out at sea that sounds awesome.

Hey Sparkling, hope you're still pursuing your dreams....Yep, I'm really busy in rehearsals for Aladdin....(as the full time Narrator/Sultan) because we open this Friday 12/12 at the Hyperion Theatre in DCA.Now that I've had a few weeks to settle in, I'd like to chim back into the conversation by saying I really enjoy working for Disney and working with this production's staff/crew. It is a very wonderful experience. They are some of the best professionals I've had the joy to work with and some of the most thoughtful/courtious folks also. (Oh and the cast is a real joy to be with...they've accepted the "Old Guy" lol) Oh Yea, I'm having a ball here and if you stop by DCA (Disney California Center) to see the show this year, give me a shout out, I'm here until at least Sept 2009. BTW, they really liked my audition the first time I tried...but still didn't hire me. However, the second time (a year later) they not only remembered me from a year earlier but HIRED ME!! (they'd send me an email to come back to audition!) LOL It's worth the lengthy wait at the open calls. GR8 Gig if you can get it!!

Its great to hear your experience, Don_Quixote. And how crazy that they remembered you after a YEAR and hired you! That's great! I am actually going to be in California a few times in 2009, so I definitely want to see the show. I will totally say hi if I get there, and I so want an autograph!

I would think that if you apply for character performance, that you could apply for princess jobs too, but I could be wrong. By the way, if anyone knows the height requirements for each/any of the princesses and other characters, please share. I know that the fairies need to be tiny, and I heard something about Ariel needing to be at most 5'4" and Aurora needing to be tall - stuff like that. Also, for those of you who have auditioned for musical jobs at Disney Parks - are there certain popular songs that many people use at auditions? Do many people actually use Disney songs?

Apparenlty if they think you could resemble a princess they pick you out themselves and get you to try wigs on ect... And height not sure exactly but minnie is has to be under 5ft i think, faries are the same or no taller that 5ft 1 and to be goofy, tigger and so on.. you have to be over 6ft 2, so ive been told. Hope that helps

Oh I wasn't trying to confuse the two; I know that the auditions are run separately and differently, I was just asking for two different pieces of information in one post. Sorry for the confusion =].

'Snow White' is spot on. You don't 'apply' to be a princess when auditioning for the character and or parade department...and they are 2 separate departments, btw (just b/c you audition for a disney park doesn't mean you will be in parade). they take who they think will work for various characters and then try the wigs on you. HOWEVER, i got the Evil Queen gig at Disneyland, CA after an in-house audition for a character dept. award show. after that, i was 'approved' for several other face characters.
I had some good experiences as a character, but most were not good at all. the leads (the person who goes out to 'watch' the characters while they are on set) would not pay attention most of the time, and kids & adults alike would beat up on me and the other characters. adults were the worst.
i'm a 5'8' female and was cast for pluto, smee, eeyore, brer fox, rafiki...i think that's all.
i had my arm pulled out of joint as pluto, severe bruising from mean kids pounding on me as brer fox & smee (walking off, as they tell you to do if something happens, is NOT always that easy in a sea of tourists), and the costume dept lost a piece to my rafiki costume forcing me to use the puppet all day which gave me permanent nerve damage...to which they didn't care. and the need for aerobics is gone, too - the energy you must have in those blasted hot/sweaty costumes is killer most all of the time. my eeyore costume was about 35lbs, if not more....thank goodness that was a slow character, lol! and thank goodness i was physically fit.
this was in the early 90's, and things may have changed since then...i think i read where the heads were being changed to be lighter and include cameras after i left but i don't know for sure. anyway, this was my experience.
