Yes, they started making offers to certain Oliver! parts beginning Monday evening. What part did you audition for? What were you told? I don't know anything else.

I auditioned for a chorus member role not for a main part. It was my first NYC audition and I wasn't sure how this worked. Thank you for all your information.

Hi there,

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just move on to the next audition. Might be nice to have on the resume, but at what price. It's a killer schedule.

our friend was offered the role of oliver but turned it down because of the grueling schedule. non-union tours are not good.

Well, that's what goes with the territory so it shouldn't be a surprise.

On the road means just that...ON THE ROAD. If the pay/benefits are in line with the role/project...the actor knows what he/she is up for.

Otherwise they shouldn't audition for a road show, just keep with regional/local theatre productions.

Having been on the road, (I happen to have enjoyed my past experience with it) that's just my 2 cents worth.

well, he didn't get to see the actual schedule until he was offered the role. a different city almost every day. non-union tours are not the same as union, which other friends of mine have been on.

Oh, no doubt they can be gruling!! Been there, done that...got the t-shirt.

How was the compensation/benefits package they offered for the lead role?

The minimum spear carrying AEA member usually gets $1500 a week...this non-union show starts at a $600 min. (a considerable difference)

I'm interested in some idea of what their maximum is for leading roles.

Thanks so much for the feedback

We were at the auditions and know some of the Oliver finalists, but none of them heard that anyone was offered the part of Oliver, initially. I wonder just how many offers have gone out, in all. The rehearsals start in August, I believe. By next week (after the 12th), I'm sure we'll hear more...

our friend was definitely offered the tour. i don't know exact specifics, but the pay was very low, per diems low and a grueling schedule.

I was just on Dave Clemmon's casting website and saw they were holding more auditions July 21...seems like many roles are still open.

I'm not too familiar with the show, but I was wondering how intense the dancing in this show is? Also, can anyone who went to the first adult audition please tell me what song the dance portion of the audition was to? (you could PM me if you would rather not say on here)

Thanks!!

Well, I have to say that it was a surprise for us! You have to remember that many parents are not themselves in the biz, so why should it not be a surprise? It seems many kids have turned down parts, since they are holding auditions for all kids' parts again. There must be a reason for that.

Believe me I've learned a lot in the last year and a half since my kid started booking bigger projects from film to commercials to shows. And it's nothing like what I could have ever imagined in any of those areas. What I have learned though, is that if it's non-union, boy, you really notice it whether film, internet, industrials, or whatever. We've done both, and the working conditions, especially for kids, well, there is no comparison.

Maybe the pay? $400/week non union kids...not sure why. Stay tuned til next week, then we'll see what happens! Many of us who were at the auditions, who made the cuts and finals, never heard a thing. That's the biz...
