Alot of the girls there looked older than thirteen, like maybe fifteen or sixteen. There were one or two girls that looked about eleven but I heard them sing and they had alot of talent. Overall, I'd say the average age was 14/15.

I can say that about 15 of the girls that were there in the morning were from stagedoor manor, and they were 13 and 14 with the oldest turning 15 this year. My friend's daughter knew that group. They had some musical theater songs and pop. They all seemed pleased with their auditions.
The afternoon was empty. Around 3-5pm, there were just 3 people. 1 boy and 2 girls. They were going to be there until 6pm. They also said there would definitely be more open call auditions, but they didn't have a date yet.
So it looks like what was thought to be a huge turnout wasn't.
Bigred123, did you audition with the equity group or non-union?

We got there at about 9:50 and were done by 11:15 - could be a record for being non-Equity for an Equity call. There were few Equity boys for the 10:00 call and the Equity girls call was at 11:00 so they filled the 10-11 slot with non-Equity kids.
I would agree that most of the girls looked 14-16 although it really is hard to tell - my daughter, who's 16, looked on the younger side. During the audition she was asked her grade. She's tall (5'4") but looks young otherwise. She thought she did well so she's happy.
Loulou - I'm not sure what "offered callbacks on the spot" means when they still have not set a date for callbacks. Hate to sound harsh but without a date, time, and location it's not a callback
There were a lot of first time auditioners there (girls and boys) and it showed but from what I heard they made all the teens feel really good about their audiiton which is nice.
I also agree with whoever said that there were a lot of mt songs instead of pop songs. That actually seemed to be the running theme from both the moms and kids. Some tried to find pop songs within a musical - Avenue Q was popular. Many (most?) just worked on their song for 1 or 2 days, my daughter included, because of the pop requirement.
I was expecting a zoo but it was very well run; got a little noisy as the people waiting in the holding room started chatting so they asked us to lower our voices but it was nothing compared to the "silence" asked for at the Equity Center.
That's my synopsis of the morning. Good luck to all who auditioned.

I just auditioned for 13 at about 1:30 today. I sang a pop song and I heard that people who sang show tunes were asked to sing something else. I'm twelve, and I think I was one of the younger kids. One boy sang from Avenue Q and said that they said "We don't like your song, bye." We met people who came from Florida, Vermont, and upstate New York as well as the New York and New Jersey area. Mark Simon was really nice and complimentary of most people I spoke to. Best of luck, c: <: (: (-: <3

Some kids did bring both musical theater and pop. They didn't want pop songs from a musical theater show though as a few kids found out. One girl brought all her songs in a book, and they picked the pop song for her to sing.
Did hear a comment that a lot of boys were singing songs that might have been good for them a few years ago but aren't now...and that kids were singing pop songs that were not the type that are in 13. The notice only said sing a pop song. HOwever, there is a 1 minute medley of 3 songs from 13 when it was in LA (I would think a lot has changed since then, but they are probably of the same style). If you listen to those, there really are more musical theater songs in line with them, than pop. YOu need to be a strong belter for sure.

Unknown actress, there will definitely be more open calls, but they just don't know when yet. A lot of kids were sick or couldn't make it so you're not alone!

I'm sure there are few kids got call back on the spot. Right after they were out from auditon room, I heard that they had to stay for call back. Until I was stayed there 11: 30 I noticed few kids got call back so they had to stay.

It doesn't make sense that callbacks were done on the spot. The boys auditioning for Evan had to sing 2 songs (if they were prepared). However, when you get a callback, you are auditioning in front of the next level of people. The CD is the person who will screen everyone and then decide who he thinks should go on to meet the producer/director, etc. So I would say that callbacks are yet to come.
