Has anyone ever auditioned for this company? I'm just getting into the audition scene here in the city and the audition posting reads:

"Please be prepared to sing to provided pre-recorded tracks and be ready with acappella selections showcasing the stated registers, along with a traditional musical theatre (or opera) piece in your head voice and a big Broadway-style belt."

When they say provided pre-recorded accomp. do they mean I need to bring it or are they going to provide songs that I need to learn? I'm just a little confused...so there's no pianist either? It looks as though they want everything acapella except the pre-recorded stuff..

any insight?

Many thanks!

I auditioned for them back in October and I will be at their January auditions as well. What happens is they assign one song for all the men and one song for all the women. In October it was Someone Like You from Jekyll & Hyde. They play them on a loop in the holding room for you to learn. When you go into the audition you sing with an instrumental back-up track and then they'll ask you for 16 bars. They don't have a pianist but they will give you your starting pitch. Also, they videotape the audition.
They are really nice and it's a fairly laidback feel so no need to worry too much. You'll do greatWink

Thanks for the info!

So they have you sing their choice of song first.. (do they give you sheet music, or is it memorization?) And then they ask you for 16 bars of anything you want to sing? (acapella?) They seem like they're looking more for legit singers this time around, so I suppose that's the best option for the 16 bars, right?

Thanks again! It helps hearing from someone who's been to one of their calls! Smiler
