Medavinci, if the show your friend was in was equity, that makes a huge difference in the way they're "treated"

My DD has rehersal for a dance comp that day as well (NDS) but i feel almost oblagated to go because they sent her the invite. Not sure what to do.I know I'am not able to tour if she gets it. Is it worth finding family members and letting her go without me just for the experience?

Wow that's quite an accomplishment that your dd was in the top 40 last time out of 350. Was that at the auditions last June or at the replacement audition mid-tour? I'm trying to determine if the turn out is as big for the mid-tour auditions. Has your dd had alot of experience auditioning for different things? If we decide to do this, this will be my dd's first "big" audition, so I'm trying to figure out if we are out of our league here.

That's funny we too have a rehersal for her competition dance team that day which we will be missing if we do this. I guess everyone is gearing up for competition season.

Anyway, could you also answer my question previously posted since you have been through all this... Do the parents go in with the girls or do we sit and wait not really knowing what is going on behind closed doors?

Sorry... we are so green!

Parents do not go in and do not really know what is going on behind the closed doors. Girls will go into the room in groups of 20 - 40. Each round, half the group will be cut and merged with girls who made it past their cut. They do this for singing and then the whittled down group goes through the same process for dance. The parents sit in a room and wait through the entire process. Your wait is dependent on how many cuts your dd makes. If your dd makes all the cuts, you have a long wait.

The invites include a phone number / email contact for more info. You could call Networks and ask. Any audition is a great experience. If you can get your DD there, I'm sure she'd get a lot out of going through the process. As far as finding other people to travel, should your daughter get cast, that is something you have to decide for yourself. It's a great opportunity, if it works for your dd and your entire family.

Do you know if it is recommended to sing a song from Annie at the audition, or is it 16 bars of your choice of song?

I believe the audition notice says they take the girls in in groups and have them sing "Tomorrow".

Yes, that's correct. They go in and sing "Tomorrow" in groups. They will also be asked to sing sections of the song in smaller groups and individually in round robin, with each girl singing a few bars alone. They only sing "Tomorrow." No need to prepare or bring music for anything else.

Yes 5Starfamforever, everybody is pretty much on point with everything! We went to the replacement audition where they were picking 8-10 kids out of the 40 final callback kids. I believe the 30-32 kids that weren't cast got that special invite. That Saturday I got there at 7am and we were #1 in line. That was the first open call we went to and we thought it was gonna be a massive line. From what i hear alot of people don't break their neck to get there because it's non-union. She made all the call backs that day and we were their from 7am-6pm. The next day they did choreography (they had to dress like an orphan) and they had to sing Tomorrow by themselves. That day we were there from 11:00-5:00pm. After all was done they told all 40 girls they would email everybody the cast in about 2-weeks. Next to those 2 days that was a long 2 weeks.

Thank you Dramaqueenmama... that info was very helpful. Still haven't decided if we're doing it or not. Did you decide what to do yet? Good luck with your decision. Be sure post if you decide to do it and if she makes it this time! Sounds like she may have a pretty good chance!
Thanks again for all your help.

Hi I am a new poster on this board, as I am finally ditching the paper and going digital! Just thought I would add some info about the Annie Auditions. We got the invite too, and had to ask a few questions to see if it was worth our time to attend this round. We were told that they are possibly looking to replace 2 of girls in a matter of weeks (this is not a done deal however,) and that they would be holding auditions again in June 2008 for the rest of the roles. In my past experience, replacement auditions are often held "just in case" not because someone is necessarily leaving. If it wont be a hassle for you to go, then do it. Martin runs a fun audition and it will be a good experience. However, if you have prior plans, or it is a major trek for you, then I would wait until the June auditions. Hope this helps.

Wow! That's very helpful info. Thanks Mom2aTripleThreat! I didn't know that and didn't think to ask (love this message board). I had decided to go only because she don't have to stand in line. If that's the case I may wait as well.

Is there an average age for the girls that are auditioning? Is age eleven going on twelve too old if under the height restriction by a few inches?

Thanks!
