I was wondering if anyone had any more information about the re-cast of 13 The Musical other than what Mark B. Simon has discussed on the 13fans website (if you havent seen it, click heree!) I've never done anything like this and just want to be as prepared as possible Smiler

Hi,
13 is CLOSING on January 4th. It didn't do well at all. Kids either loved it or hated it....a lot like High School musical in that sense. There was some talk of possibly doing a national or international tour. That is why Mark Simon never posted the audition dates for November, as he knew it was closing and probably didn't want to say anything on the website until it was posted on broadway world or playbill. it leaked out on the 13fans.com website that delaney moro posted it on her facebook before it was officially announced by jason robert brown.

Kids make mistakes. As adults, we should understand that posting their mistakes on public boards is not appropriate.

I agree with Tuff and SMTD. And the rumor has been out there for weeks that the show would close after the holidays, just like many other shows on B'way right now, so it wasn't any big "reveal". Agent replacement auditions, which had been set up, were cancelled a couple of weeks ago . . . that was a clear sign itself.

It's also my opinion that "13" had a decent run, given the economy and the fact that the show is aimed at a limited audience. I don't think it has anything to do with "Kids either loved it or hated it." Fact is, most people only want to see any given Broadway show once - "13" was somewhat unusual in having a fan base that saw (or wanted to see) the show multiple times.

I hate it when posters talk about young children by name. Let's just leave those off. The girl in question is a teen, and only wanted to help the show by encouraging others to come to the show. She's a friend of my daughter's.

I agree with FishMom—it was no big reveal. Agent appointments were made and cancelled. The word on the street was that the show was not doing well. Heck, they were selling discount tickets almost right from the start.

Those kids had a fantastic experience. My daughter had hoped to someday be a 'replacement'!

Thanks for your help(:
I heard it was closing the day of the unofficial announcement. Its really sad. If the economy didn't suck, the show could've had a chance. Oy vey.
Oh well. I'm still looking forward to seeing the tour.

Additionally, unless they told the kids "don't tell anyone" when they told them it was closing, she had every right to post it whereever she wanted. Anyway, on we already knew on 13fans.com by that point, so she did nothing wrong.
