Your agent should be able to find out and provide you with all the information you want to know about the film. You should never worry about "upsetting your agent" by asking important questions. Your agent works for you. They should be worried about upsetting
you by setting you up for a possibly sleazy project. Talk to them. If you're being considered for one of the leads, you should request a copy of the entire script. Some companies don't let them out, others don't actually have complete scripts yet. If they won't let a script out of the office, they may allow you to sit in their lobby and read it. I've done that before in L.A. Ask as many questions as you need to find out if this is project you want to be part of.
If I can't find out ANY info about a company that's producing a film, my red flags go WAY up! And yours should too.
I did a little research for you on Changer Galaxy (the production company). If it's the project I found, and I'm pretty sure it is, since you're based in Dallas, it's called "Perfect Wedding Video Productions" (which is referred to in their breakdown as "PWVP"... not "PWVD". It's being advertised on CRAIGSLIST! SOUNDS sleazy. A non-union film made "for cable", with "Strong Adult Content". Hmmm, what cable station??! Cinemax? Public Access? Playboy At Night? (is there such a thing?) Neither the company or the writer, Clifford Wang, seem to have any legitimate credits.
Did your agent provide you with the description of the "lead" role you're being considered for? Is it "Paula Cummings"? (I don't know if you're male or female.) But this role is described in the Craigslist breakdown as:
quote:
Paula Cummings – White female - early 20’s – Recurring Attractive – Girl Next Door At first glance you’d never know that Paula was an adult film star looking to step out of the shadows of her legendary mother Jenna Cummings. After the release of her debut album “PC” she signed a 3-episode film and record contract with Chad Bono and PWVP this is her opportunity to make it big.
Since that role is described as "Recurring", it seems like this is not a film, but a series. Either way, a company based in Irving, Texas, is probably not making a high class film. I dunno. It may not be "Debbie Does Dallas", but my instinct is that it sounds creepy. Ask lots of questions!!
