My agent sent me to an audition for a film called PWVD. I got called back for one of the leads. The company is called Changer Galaxy and I can't find anything about them online or the script. Below is the synopsis I got. It's about a legitimate film company that has to start shooting porn and the struggles that causes. I assume it is legitimate as my agent sent me on the audition and there were actors there auditioning from other agencies I recognized as well as mine. I also read all the sides and none of them called for nudity. What is the etiquette for finding out the tone of this film? I don't want to do porn for sure and I don't think that is what this is but how do I find out if this is going to be a witty well written film or a piece of sleaze? Do I ask my agent? Do I just wait to see if they cast me and if so do I get a chance to find out before I answer? I don't want to upset my agent by getting cast and then turning it down. I did audition for a cable TV pilot this company did a few weeks ago called Haters which was nothing to do with sex.

Synopsis:

When diagnosed with a life threatening cancer, William William, owner of successful wedding videography company, is driven to make a taxing decision for himself and the livelihood of his business during the recession. After building his company up from nothing in the last 15yrs William breaks down and sells his company to the corporate giant, TimeCast. With a new boss, Chad Bono, and a new set of rules, William and this staff must shift their creative talents in a different direction to impress their new boss, hold on to their job in an volatile market and maintain their modicum middle class way of life. Welcome to the new adult entertainment production company, Perfect Wedding Video Productions

Strong Adult Content.

Your agent should be able to find out and provide you with all the information you want to know about the film. You should never worry about "upsetting your agent" by asking important questions. Your agent works for you. They should be worried about upsetting you by setting you up for a possibly sleazy project. Talk to them. If you're being considered for one of the leads, you should request a copy of the entire script. Some companies don't let them out, others don't actually have complete scripts yet. If they won't let a script out of the office, they may allow you to sit in their lobby and read it. I've done that before in L.A. Ask as many questions as you need to find out if this is project you want to be part of.

If I can't find out ANY info about a company that's producing a film, my red flags go WAY up! And yours should too.

I did a little research for you on Changer Galaxy (the production company). If it's the project I found, and I'm pretty sure it is, since you're based in Dallas, it's called "Perfect Wedding Video Productions" (which is referred to in their breakdown as "PWVP"... not "PWVD". It's being advertised on CRAIGSLIST! SOUNDS sleazy. A non-union film made "for cable", with "Strong Adult Content". Hmmm, what cable station??! Cinemax? Public Access? Playboy At Night? (is there such a thing?) Neither the company or the writer, Clifford Wang, seem to have any legitimate credits.

Did your agent provide you with the description of the "lead" role you're being considered for? Is it "Paula Cummings"? (I don't know if you're male or female.) But this role is described in the Craigslist breakdown as:

quote:
Paula Cummings – White female - early 20’s – Recurring Attractive – Girl Next Door At first glance you’d never know that Paula was an adult film star looking to step out of the shadows of her legendary mother Jenna Cummings. After the release of her debut album “PC” she signed a 3-episode film and record contract with Chad Bono and PWVP this is her opportunity to make it big.

Since that role is described as "Recurring", it seems like this is not a film, but a series. Either way, a company based in Irving, Texas, is probably not making a high class film. I dunno. It may not be "Debbie Does Dallas", but my instinct is that it sounds creepy. Ask lots of questions!!

Aha! Now I've had the good sense to look at some of your previous posts, and I see you're not a female and wouldn't be right at all for that role I found in that breakdown. BUT... the project still sounds sleazy. That Craigslist notice was posted today, October 16th, so it will expire in 7 days. Here's the pertinent info:

Project: Perfect Wedding Video Productions
Director: Changer Galaxy
Writer: Clifford Wang and Changer Galaxy
Producer: Changer Galaxy
Usage: Cable
Genre: Dramedy
Production Dates: Oct 30 – Nov 3
Rate: $200 - $50 per day - Based on Role and Experience – Negotiable
