I recently had a great audition for a major equity national tour. Made it through 2 dance calls and a singing call. They then took polaroids of a few of us. They told us that if they took our polaroids that it meant they would be calling us back in in June for the invited auditions and callbacks.

Now here is my question. I went into the audition without having a haircut in a while. My look isnt significantly different, but I was wondering...is it safe to get a haircut back to more what my headshots look like? Should I get a haircut now and hope it grows back into about what it looks like now for the callbacks in june? Or do I keep on my regular hair cut schedule and just know that they have my headshot and my polaroid from the audition, 2 different hair styles. (the polaroid was also taken at the end of the day after 2 dance calls.)

Thanks!

My logic, not my experience: your hair will grow back. You've been called back for your abilities, not how your hair looks. It's not as if you're in the running for a print job or commercial that shoots next week. That'd be a different story. But if the actual potential work doesn't start for a couple of months, if I were you, I wouldn't sweat it. Good luck with the audition process!

I don't think a trim is going to matter. I have the same thoughts when my son needs a trim. He has a 'look' with mop hair and just gets it trimmed if he is in the middle of a project with the directors approval. Afterwards it's off to the hairdresser for a style. A bit obsessive if you ask me, but it works.

I agree that a trim won't hurt... just don’t do anything drastic. No shaving your head, or going for that mohawk you've always wanted.

This reminds me of a no budget film I just did, after a two month break in filming, it was my responsibility to show up looking exactly the same... it never even occurred to anyone that my hair might have grown, or look a bit different. It was a good thing I took pictures during the filming. I wonder what would they have done if I'd shown up looking different (needless to say, there was no barber on the set).
