Lalita, My friend’s son is there as well, he has enjoyed every round of these auditions. The casting company has been so good to them, it has been a wonderful experience. It is nice to know that they will have an answer soon enough, it has been a long road for them. Good luck to your friend and mine! (Could they be one and the same?)
I also know a potential Billy & a Michael. I've spoken to the Billy's mom. Understandable stress.. he could be on top of the world in a week, or she could be sweeping up a broken heart. I'm more stressedout for her son than I am for my own daughter. But she says it's been amazing, and she knows all the boys are talented. Going to come down to the Xfactor.

Yes, I understand. My daughter had a great BE audition, but is not in the final 20. It was very very difficult at first, but now she is rooting for her friend.

I dont know anyone or have any stake in any of the BE auditions (although i am now wondering if it might be a good idea to send in my headshot for any kind of future replacements or anything as i am a dancer, and although i am 16, i am only 4'11'' and look very young...idk.anyways thats not wat i was going to say.)
Anyways what i was going to say was to anyone who has gotten so far in these auditions, they may not get the role this time, but once the show opens it wont be too long that they will need to bring in new cast members to replace the old ones. and who do you think will be first on their list? so even if the kids dont get it this time, there is certainly hope that they can make it into the show in the future..so dont give up hope. Good luck to all and I just wanted to say that. best wishes.

Maybe they ddon' cast children of color partially because there anent ay there??? Maybe i am naive.
Sydb-- I think it will be more dancing- i heard they are really focusing on the tap and then if you make the cut --singing- most likely another callback-
Not true there are many talented young ladies of color but it all depends on what the casting director is looking for and Nora Brennan is one of the nicest casting directors out there My daughter had the opportunity to audition for Billy Elliott back in December but she was not called back but I was not surprised....my daughter is of color.
Good Luck to ALL who made it this far!

Nora is by far the nicest casting director we have ever worked with. Wow.
Why do you think your daughter wasn't called back just because she is 'of color'? From what I understand, there will be a mix of kids in this cast. Our friend got called back, and she is definitely ethnic. My daughter, I think was just too 'regular.' They are looking for types & characters for this show.

How soon after a show opens do they begin open casting calls for replacements (or do they???) I know, I know, it's a bit too early to start thinking of this My daughter is still bumming that she was unable to attend the Monday callback.

just curious, how tall and old are the billys and michaels that are being considered? My friend has a son who wants to try next time but thinks he may get too tall

if there are only 6 boys left and they are picking 2-3 michaels, i would assume they will pick at least the same amount of BIlly's , isnt it possible that all the boys left may all be cast?

I'm not sure about the Billy's. I heard a long time ago that they were already cast, and had been in training for quite some time. It may be that they are picking Michael's and Billy's from these 6? I don't know though. The boy we know is very small, maybe 4'9", and he's up for Michael.
I think (please someone correct me if I'm wrong) that Equity rules call for replacement auditions every 6 months whether anyone is planning to leave or not?

As far as casting "character" looking kids, I wouldn't say that's the way it went. At the final callback when they were down to 28, the girls were all adorable and talanted. Most were current and past broadway girls, and current American girls. I don't think you would have said that any of them were "character" looking. One was cuter than the next, and many even classicly pretty. All very different, yet all very talented.

I do know for a fact that the role of Billy was cast quite some time ago. I don't know how many boys were chosen, but at least one was. He is from our area and has been studying with the show in London for some time now. Although, the the "grapevine" that would be our local theater community, I have heard that he is too tall now and is not going to be able to play the role on Broadway. Though I do not know that family direly, so that might be completely off base. But, my daughter does take dance at the same school as he did before he went to London, so I know that he was at least cast.
