My dd had a great time at the audition yesterday! She made the height cut off by 1/4 inch!! However, there were a few kids who definitley looked like they were taller than 4ft 10, but they allowed them to audition anyway.I believe there were only around 150 kids there,we were surprised. Even though dd was cut, she loved every minute of it and her 1st theatre audition was a fun experience!

Yes! the talk of the holding room was that it was much more crowded last year! However, even with 150 the space was packed!

My daughter was there also and it was packed! She didn't get into the top six, but she did make some friends that she hopes to keep in touch with. Smiler

There were 175. That was the official count from TinaL. Yes, much less than last year, but way less organized in some respects. Many people didn't know if they were supposed to stay or not because of the way they were cutting and grouping, so made it even harder on those who were cut, in my opinion. Bob (runs audition with Tina, makes cuts, etc.) clarified things eventually. Even with the low turnout there were more girls called back (apprx. 20) to Sunday than ever b4(my DD was one of them) which Martin C. said was the most callbacks he's ever had in the end. He said the talent was amazing and that the decision would be extremely difficult. My DD was placed in the 1st group on Sunday bc we had to leave early for a performance, so don't know the outcome, but we were promised a phone call. As always, a great experience!

We of course have no insight as to this years audition. We were not there this year. DD Is too tall, but my dd always was at the end. Was there any kids from last year's tour there?

If not, I think he had to cast all 7 girls. Before the first year, he alwasy had a couple coming back with Amanda being already cast as Annie last year. She walked in day 2 with the script & she was already second understudy. The year before Marissa was already cast.

What is nice is there year Annie role was open. I assuming that Grace isn't taking over for Amanda and that all roles are open. Fun for the girls that audiitoned.

Thanks..he gave scripts to 8 girls, at the end of the day on Sat. who are potential Annie's, the rest had to improvise on Sun. Everyone there was new (with the exception of the big sister of a very small auditionee- I'll keep their names confidential). They all became fast friends, playing circle games, etc., so adorable! Ashame they can't all be cast..oh well, that's show biz...but you're right, they probably finished casting by the end of the day on Sun. Bob said they had the room until 7pm that night!

I know, but it is nice they are young and there is so much to do. And what a fun experience, mine loved audtioning for Annie. Absolutely enjoyed both times. She was bummed she was too tall, but it did go non-union. I am surprised that none of the girls returned, especially Grace. We saw her perform, Amanda was out due to vocal fatigue. She was really good. I so enjoy as show with an understudy. What an amazing experience for anyone that auditioned. I wish we could have went, my younger daughters did not want to go. It is such a positive experience and Bob what a funny guy. DD always thought he was so entertaining. I for one can't wait the show is coming close this time, the tour looks like it is a one-nighter again. So actually, we wouldn't want to be in non-union production, but Break A Leg to those that auditioned & want it. I hope to see you on stage real soon near us. Annie is my favorite show!

Heard there were 30+ at Sun. callback. Guess it doesn't really matter, though! They def. had at least that if not more called back in past years. They should try to reword the "amazing talent/difficult decision" speech, LOL! Many kids have heard that over and over the past 3 years or so! Good luck to all waiting and willing to do this type of tour.

Lightsonbway -- let's face it -- I am certain the talent is amazing and I am sure it is difficult decision when you have so much talent, espcially if the talent was so amazing. You could flip a coin to get a cast. I know the girls were good, but I have seen better. Sometimes I wonder when they cast kids.
It is probably a look or something. You know you can't be over 4'10". That is about the smallest 11 year old in my daughter's class.

Sure, a look has something to do with it, but casting a "look" only will be a disaster without the talent attached. I disagree about the coin toss, too, but that's fine. Different opinions make the world go 'round! My reference to the 'speech' was only for the poor girls who have been auditioning since the original tour started, and have been hearing how amazing they are over and over but never get in. They should double cast kids for a non union tour to begin with because of the crazy schedule, but they won't do it because they do whatever it takes to make the most money, for themselves of course.

I guess I wasn't funny with the coin toss. I agree with you, the speech should get a new writer. I agree with you on the double cast, they should with this next tour schedule. We went to annieontour and looked at it. DD is just over 4'10" And that schedule took the last Annie out for awhile, I agree they should double cast.

However, with the look. I do think that the more talented ones might not be getting the roles. It seems that it is more about look on auditions and then they figure out if they can sing. And I am not sure if they even care if the Annie is the best singer. They might just be Annie, but a Musical is still a Musical. So, what I was trying to say - with all that amazing talent - I hope the Annie has a great voice along with wonderful acting skills.

Because as I said in an earlier post, Annie is still one of my favorites & the girls and I will be going to see it when it is near us.
