Just seeing if anyone is making the ride to Newtown, PA for the 'STATE' auditions. Its a feature, union and non.

Also, if anyone wanted to practice playing softball until the 11th?

I'm located in Astoria, Queens.

I will be taking my daughter. This will be her first audition, so we are just going for the experience of an audition! I live in PA, so can't "help" with practice.
Also-whatever1vine, I sent you a PM on a few questions I had.

Thanks

I've heard of this, but nothing more than that it's an open call in PA. Does anyone know of a link that provides more info? Or the synopsis/breakdown?

My daughter decided not to go to the audition. I sent you a private message with some other infomation. Maybe someone else who went can help you more. I myself am very new at all this.

Hope your parents change their minds about driving you. It sounds like it would be a wonderful experience.

If you can not make it to the open call you can video tape and send it to them before September 1st. Check casting notice I posted couple of messages above. That's what we are doing. Good Luck!

Hi, I went to the audition and it was a nice change from the NYC audition circuit. They were VERY welcoming and relaxed. I would highly recommend going, especially if you are new at this, because 1. you have the audition material ahead of time 2. it is in a relaxed environment 3. they won't eat you alive if you are not what they are looking for.
I got there around 9am and left by 10am. There were maybe 15 other girls, tops (during that time).

Let me know if there is anything else you want to know!

thanks for everyones help! just a couple questions, what was the softball stuff you had to do, like if i were to wear jeans would i need to bring some shorts or something to change into? oh, and do i need to bring equipment? also, where you were did the doors open at 9:00? i thought that you might have needed to get there early. but i guess it was fine just getting there at 9:00 right?
that really makes me feal better about them being relaxed and welcoming and everything like that, this will be my first audition, i'm kind of nervous!! thanks soooo much for your help!

We didn't do any of the softball stuff. The plans changed because they didn't want to keep people in PA overnight for the callback because they realized they came from all over the North East. SO, they said that for the "callback" they will review the tape that you did that day. We filled out an application stating our softball history.

I would recommend bringing a change of clothes just in case they have you throw the ball around. As for the actual audition, wear something you are comfortable in - given it is for a softball player - nice jeans and a bright colored v-neck t-shirt (looks great on camera) would be fine. Don't show up in workout clothes or in a softball uniform. Have the monologue memorized. Arrive early, and relax until your name is called.

Let us know how it goes.

I just got back from the one in Texas. It went pretty good i guess, I was realy nervous but i at least remembered all mine lines and everything lol. They were all really nice, got there around 8:30 and left around 11:00. I'd say there were probably about 25 or so girls there. They didnt do call backs they just said that they would contact people after they finished the California auditions which is next weekend, i think? not sure

Congrats on your audition! The last auditions are Sept. 1st (so ya, that is next weekend). I wonder why they are not doing the callbacks the following day. I would assume they are doing the same for the other two states since they did that for PA and TX. That would mean they'd have to fly people to Louisiana for call-backs. Hmmm... I wonder what they have up their sleeves.

If anyone is attending in CA - let us know how it goes!

Good luck xyz. Don't stress on waiting for the call-back though. It can really eat you up inside. I know, because I used to do it after my son's auditions. After a while it gets easier to move on after an audition, but just try to get your life back to normal as if you didn't do anything. That way if you do get a call-back it is a really pleasant surprise.

haha yea thanks!! i will try =]

about call-backs... how does that work? they will just contact the people that they want right? but with the way they did this, they just said "sometime after the California auditions" sooo i meen that could be like anywhere from a couple days to a couple months. so i could be anxiously waiting for that possibility that they might call me for like a month but they actually called people about call-backs weeks ago and they are already done with them... lol. when we signed in we all gave them our email addresses, so yea do you think they would maybe email everyone to tell you sorry you didnt get it! just so that you know and arnt waiting for months?
