Is this not a popular tour? No one seems to be responding to this one like they do the others. Am I the only one excited? OK whats wrong with the Annie Tour? Confused

I'd like some info about doing a "Tour" for shows like Annie or Mary Poppins. I know the child gets "paid", but who pays for hotels, meals, travel and the like? If you don't live in NYC, are arrangements made for lodging & meals during the rehearsal weeks? Do the actors get paid during the rehearsal weeks? How long would the Tour last?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Denise

All expenses are paid Denise. From what i was told The Chaperone gets paid as well. They also give you a food stipend. Everyone that I know that went on the tour said they had a great time. The only kicker is it's non-union but you gotta start somewhere right! Smiler Oh and I believe the tour is 10 months.

DramaQueenMama,

I think the Annie auditions are usually pretty crowded, but I also think people are understandably somewhat reluctant to post on a public message board about what auditions they are going to, callbacks they are getting, etc.

DaughtersDreams,

Understand that there is a BIG difference between an equity tour like MP and a non-equity tour like Annie. Not that I'm saying non-equity is bad, but you need to understand the pay is far less and the travel and accomodations often not up to the same standard as an equity tour. That being said, I know several folks who have done non equity tours and loved the experience.

DramaQueenMama,
What is an "equity" tour vs. "non-equity" tour? I understand that actors can be part of union, and therefore "equity", right? But don't both shows cast both equity and non-equity actors?

Thanks dramamama! I would think that's why people have alias. To give valuable info and at the same time stay anonymous. That's why I don't hesitate to give any info that i know of about auditions or callbacks etc...because at the end of the day i don't THINK anyone could tell who ANYONE is on this board unless they volunteered that info Smiler I'am pretty new here and I love the feedback! I honestly don't think twice about answering someone's question IF i have the answer. Am I being nieve?

No. Annie uses only non equity, or non union, actors, and therefore does not have to comply with equity rules. MP, in contrast, uses only equity actors and, therefore, falls under equity's jurisdiction. I believe the current pay for girls in Annie is somewhere around $400 per week. If memory serves, equity minimum is at least twice that. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

DramaQueenMana,

No, I don't think you're being naive, but be careful not to reveal too much information about yourself or your child that could lead you to be identified. Industry professionals do read this board, so just be careful with what you put out into cyberspace.

Daughter's Dream, You can audition for union and non-union if your NOT in the union. Once your in the union you can only audition for union. Example/ Annie non-union= Bus tour, whatever Hotel/Motel is nearest to the venue, $300 a week. Mary Poppins union= Plane tour, Better Hotels/Food/ $1600 a week Eeker Get the picture! Wink Once your in the union you DON'T WANT to audition for something non-union. Plus other perks!
