I had a callback for a TV show last week and just got a call from my agent that I'm first choice, but they won't be able to confirm/book me until Thursday. Anyone know what that means? It's not like a commercial and they have to approve me through the ad company, is it?

Bump!

Casting called my agency every day for a week to say, "We definitely still want her!" then the final day came, they called and said, "We went another direction."

Anyone know why they'd do that? I'm still confused : /

Sorry to hear they "went a different direction"
... I've been there, that sucks.

It might be that "they" (the ones who you auditioned for) liked you, but they needed final approval from a producer type, and he choose to go in another direction. This happened to me once... the director loved me, but the producer wanted to go with a different type of character... so I lost.

Reasons include-

- different person with equal or more power just did not like you
- director starts sleeping with someone new and you get bumped and they replace you with said person
- turns out the lead cast opposite you has more box office OOPMH and looks very similar to you so they bump you in favor of someone with a different look for contrast
- lead oppposite you wants your part to go to his/her friend/spouse/lover etc and will walk if he doesn't get his way

There are SO many reasons. I know when I cast my own project a while ago, I actually bumped someone in the same way as he was proving to be flaky regarding rehearsals, not good at returning calls and quite simply did not seem to have any respect for me as a woman or my project. I am not saying you were like him- just offering an example. I do feel your pain and it sucks so very badly but remember when one door shuts, another one opens. Something way more fabulous is just around the corner and you will be rewarded for taking this in stride and not letting it get you down.
