The sole purpose of a headshot is to get you auditions.

But you've already got a standing appointment to audition and they've already told you you don't need one.

WHAT ARE YOU STRESSING ABOUT??

“Whatever works.”

Well it was an open audition. I dont know if i need one for an open audition. wont they go over head shots at the end of the day and make a final decision if they come up empty at the end of the day??? Wont that put me at a disadvantage with the ppl that DO have a head shot to show???

If they like your audition, they will not forget you, and will call you back.

Put your energy into preparing for the audition -- that will serve you well.

Good luck.

Dear goligo,

Occasionally, casting directors will hold open calls (or “cattle calls”) like the kind you went on recently. Most often they’re for background extras or for minor parts after the leading roles have already been cast (Broadway shows often rely on such massive calls when they need to consider large numbers of chorus members quickly). Sometimes they’ll hold open calls when they are unable to find exactly who they’re looking for through normal casting.

You’ll need a good headshot and resume if you want to pursue acting professionally. But you have a lot of homework to do first. I always suggest reading Mari Lyn Henry and Lynne Rogers’, “How To Be A Working Actor” as a good starting point. It’s ‘The Bible’ for those seeking acting as a career. There are hundreds of “How to” books on the subject nowadays, but it’s always remained a favorite over the years. Grab a copy at Samuel French or Barnes & Noble and get busy!

“Whatever works.”
