A reputable agent will not ask you to redo headshots that are good. If you have professional headshots taken that show the personality and uniqueness of your very adorable daughter, they should help you get the agent AND be adequate until your daughter needs new ones (when she looks older, or her look changes).

That being said, you can get an agent for your daughter by submitting an excellent snapshot. (An adult should never submit a snap; this is only for kids.) It worked for me years ago when my wife and I were looking for an agent for my son. We sent out snapshots, and were called immediately by several agents, including the agent he has been working with ever since.

I would agree that the shots you have posted of your daughter look like snapshots and you might consider new ones or professional headshots. They may be enough to get you in the door ... but a professional headshot will definitely give you a boost.

If you choose to get professional headshots for her, my advice is to set up interviews with several photographers to see who your daughter feels most comfortable with. If she's comfortable during her session, it will pay off big time with great shots!

Good luck to you and your daughter.

Best,

Ron

lol... but your son has a professional photographer for a father!

I'm sorry, just that was funny. I really do appreciate the advice. I am going to try to get some pro headshots done of her ASAP Wink Thank you for explaining about meeting with several different photogs so that we can see who she is most comfortable with. I didn't think of that, but it really makes sense!

Ha! True, although this happened years before I started my headshot business.

But ... it underscores the need for a good eye for photography, if you are going to submit a snapshot of your child!

OK, a small bit of advice. Alot of these photographers costs a serious amount of money.

Yet a headshot is one of the most simple things to do.

I suggest you learn a bit about photography and take her headshots yourself. She is a growing child and headshots done by pros arent expected of children.

The first picture you have there is 60 % there. what you need to do, is not use the on camera flash.

I suggest you read up on portrait photography on www.photo.net

it requires a small investment of equipment on your side, a 50mm 1.8 and a digital SLR would make beautiful shots ! ( 1.6x magnifcation )

its like you got a 80mm lens.

You also want a reflector, and shoot in natural light,

but all that can be found at www.photo.net

I recommend simply the CANON EOS system. you dont need the 10 thousand dollar camera, that buys you waterproof, not really better image quality.

Get the digital rebel, even last years digital rebel would work great !

and avoid the cheap zoom lens, get the 50 1.8.
