I had a photo session over the weekend and my photographer sent over several shots to chose from. I picked this, just want to know what you all think? Please note, it has not been touched up or color corrected yet. So any advice on that will also be appreciated.

I'd look for a shot that is better lit. This throws harsh light across your face, creating unflattering shadows on the left side of your face. Are they all like this?

It was actually done like that at the photographers request. He said it creates more "depth" kind of like a Rembrant painting. I do have another one similar to it and more lit, but I don't think it conveys as much personality as the one from above...

I agree 100% with your photographer's decision.

This one is more like a mug shot. 45-degree side lighting ("Rembrandt" lighting) does create more depth in the photograph.

If this degree of shadow isn't to your liking, it is easily correctable in Photoshop.

Just crop it tighter and you're good to go.

Also got this one. Think its best of both worlds, well lit and conveys personality. But the fact it's shot head-on makes my face looks flush, like there's water retention.

You're obviously a big boy (Native American? Latino?).

You will certainly be cast as the heavy, or "the tough guy with a heart of gold."

You should select a minimum of two looks that will reflect both views accurately. One more intense, the other, softer.

These will do in a pinch, but eventually you may want to seek out a more experienced photographer who can really do you justice. These are a little on the amateur side.

Must agree with the others. These shots are a)unflattering and b)don't deliver any juice.

I could see you playing the tough guy too. Go for some pictures that really say that. These pics don't speak to me at all. Mug shot is a good description.

Sorry dude... I don't think these shots are going to get you called in. You need a better photog and a make-up artist (Yes, for guys too.) who know their stuff.

I saw a villain/tough guy head shot once that knocked my socks off. The look in his eyes, the whole pic just said "You don't want to mess with me".

Browse some websites of headshot photogs and see what you like. This is a pic that can't be just OK.

You're going to need much better headshots to compete in the Los Angeles market.

Unfortunately, none of these are spectacular.

If you're going to use any of them, go with the last one and crop it real tight and have it retouched a bit.

It should be adequate for now, but I'd definitely recommend reshooting.

Attached is my 1-minute retouch of it.

You all win. I am taking an industry intensive at TVI and one manager refereed to my head shot as "bubba the killer". Needless to say, I will be taking new ones within the week, and thanks to all those that replied because you suggestions are in my thoughts!
