I just got some new headshots with Paul Gregory and I'd love some feedback on which ones I should go with. Also age range?

Also this is my first post so my apologies if the photos aren't formatted correctly.

Thanks!

Dang, girl. Those lips were NOT made in Asia.

Anyway... I like the energy of the 1st one. I wouldn't mind seeing more in the pink top. I like how you styled the shot but the ones you posted aren't grabbing me for some reason.

Thanks Lonni for your feedback! I'm glad you like the first one...I was a bit on the fence about it because of that head tilt and that horrible strand of hair that kept coming out.

My proof sheet is here (don't worry it's only 36 pics total for the whole session!) and I didn't see any other pink ones I was particularly fond of. Perhaps someone can pick out another one that stands out more?

Do they call you Angelina... JUNG?? Big Grin

The main issue with these headshots is the overly-yellow skin tones. But this is easily corrected in Photoshop.

Because these were taken with natural light (in open shade) you lost your magnificent cheek bones and your hair went totally black. You can fix the hair to an extent, but unfortunately, not the bone structure. The visible eye strain in examples one and five is another problem encountered when you shoot outdoors.

The bright pink dress and busy necklace were the worst possible choices you could make. They pull focus from your striking face.

Stick with basic black or dark, more muted color tones.

Thanks Robert. I was hoping you would comment as I wanted a photographer's opinion on these. The photographer I worked with recommended the pink dress & necklace out of the many tops I brought, as we were going for a younger "mean girls" kind of look. However I do agree that it is a bit distracting. But that's why I'm on here, to get different opinions on what works and doesn't.

I'll definitely keep your advice in mind for next time, and possibly go with a studio with natural light instead of open shade, as it was very bright outside. However, as for now, do any of these work as acceptable headshots?

You have a great look.

I'm with Robert on the flash necklace and top. I wish you wore brighter colors for your commercial shots. Commercial headshots are generally brighter colors whereas theatrical are the darker and muted colors.

The necklace I get, but what's wrong with the pink top? Bright colors are great for commercial shots, and it's not patterned or busy.

The color is great. The spaghetti straps and the cut of it is too sexy for someone of her age range and types. Also tops with low necklines are distracting.

Anything but three, where your eye looks a bit lazy.

All of the other ones are gorgeous.

Also, I dont get your comment Lonnie... lots of Asians have full lips. Most of the ones I know.

Not THAT full. I'm Asian and have never met an Asian girl with those kind of lips before.

Thanks Faith and Truthteller for your feedback. Hmmm ok I think I'm going to go with number 2 as my main one and perhaps 1 & 5 as my alternatives. It's too bad about the necklace because I really liked 4. Is there any way to save that via photoshop?

And yes my lips are always the first thing every photographer and makeup artists mention. My family always said I would grow into my lips...I guess that never happened Smiler

And between my lips and my hair (which is naturally wavy/curly) people always ask me about my ethnicity. My mother was adopted so who knows?

Here's an example with my natural hair. Anyone want to take a stab at ethnicity?
