I can't afford a professional photographer, but I do have a 10 megapixel camera! Though, in no way is that compared to a professional. Anyways, I tried to show my emotion, to make up for lack of background and professionalism.

I know I look like a fool in these. But hey, what the hell?

What do you think?

This is insulting to working actors.

----
the photos are bad, and look like you're making goofy faces for your myspace/facebook. Stand against a white wall, ask someone to take the photos, make sure it's sharp and not blurry, get some more realistic expressions unless you're going for extreme character. Add some lighting too.

I know. I'm not very proud to put them up, but until I can find money to go down to the photo store, this is the best I can offer. The last one is blurry. And the person taking it doesn't have a degree in photography. Sorry.

Though, insulting to you, I doubt it.

I'm trying to get some solid experience with no money, no support, and no transportation. My last audition I took the greyhound to LA.

If its so insulting, why don't you pay for my headshots?

hmm. Well my feeling would be, that you should probably work or something until you can afford them. Because I think it would hurt you more to put something unprofessional out into the world because it might cause people to not take you seriously.

That being said I am no expert. I can't afford head shots yet either but I realize that it's something I need to be successful in the business, so until I can afford things like that, and to be in LA etc, I am just focusing on studying the craft, and becoming the best actor I can be.
That way when the rest of the chips fall into place, I will have the package to deliver. Because this is a business, you have to provide the tools to succeed in it.

That's just my two sense, but I know it's hard, especially in this economy, but don't feel like you are alone. There a are a lot of people who are in the same position, but all one can do is their best.

Good luck to you Smiler

It's not insulting to me, since I don't care about your career one single bit. It's insulting to the profession overall, where serious minded people are doing this for their living. There's a difference between unprofessional headshots and snapshots that mock them. It doesn't take a photography degree to get decent snapshots that are clear to see what your face actually looks like.

I am being honest with you, and I could care less if you have no money, no support, or transportation. Nobody is going to hand held you in this profession, or anything in life, you have to do it on the own and that means sacrifices. Don't tell me, save it for the press.

Use the first one, send it out to everyone you possibly can. Then hold your breath until you get representation.

Shouldn't take too long.

These are insulting in every sense.

1. To all of us on Board
2. To Actors
3. To anyone you send these to in order to get an acting job.

Please. I just searched Craigslist's LA board for "Headshots" and found a ton of photographers offering headshots for $100 or less.

Of course, that's the "low-end" of headshot photographers, so they won't give you as good a headshot as the really experienced, well-known and more expensive ones. But at least they WILL give you professional headshots -- not ridiculous amateur snapshots that will get you laughed out of town! There is NO excuse for using a snapshot as a headshot (and no excuse for making goofy faces in a headshot, either!).

HOLY CRAP!

You can't be serious! Just because you don't have the funds to hire a professional does NOT give you the right to make stupid faces!

I know some actors who were able to make somewhat believable headshots with just a portable digital camera. You're obviously not one of them.

These "headshots" will keep you in Bakersfield.

Showing emotion does NOT mean making stupid faces. You can suggest an emotion or thought through your eyes and with more subtle facial expressions.

If you can't afford a proffesional. Try out colleges. There are plenty of enthusiastic photography students who in my opinion are very good, and would probably take them for little to no cost.

Just be yourself...and let that be your guide.
