We work in a market that doesn't require pro headshots, but we've got a bigger audition coming up. I took a home snap - based on all the great advice given on these boards.
What do you think?
Also - what age would you guess for DD?
Thanks much, Tanya

Tanya, I think you have a lovely daughter. And you're right, it looks like a snapshot or rather a mugshot from a lineup.... First let's see if we can angle her shoulders a bit, say 45 degrees bringing her left shoulder forwards and then tilt it down a bit so you are not shooting her straight on. Raise your camera up above her eye level so you are level with the top of her head shooting down a bit. I love her smile. She looks like she is enjoying herself. Take a look at some of the HS photog web sites to look a posing. Hope this is what you were asking for. Any way you can get your light source off the camera. There is no modeling or slight shadows on her face to give more 3d aspect to the 2d photo.
I agree with the last posting - this is definitely a snapshot (albeit, of a very pretty young lady). I'd invest in some professional Headshots if you're serious about submitting her for television, print work, etc. A little investment now can go a long way in the future and with a snapshot like this she most likely will not be taken seriously. Good luck!
We ended up using this snapshot yesterday for a Broadway audition and she's make it through to the final callbacks... so it worked okay. But we're definately going to take your advice and get a pro shot done.

SecretAgentMan... thanks for the reminder about casting agents. I suspected she'd be okay with the snap. It definately captures her look quite well. Though I must admit that we were both drooling over the really nice pro shots that we saw at the audition!
We know a local photog who does some nice headshots... but she seems to shoot only in black and white. I'm gonna talk to her about doing some color. I suspect she's been out of major markets so long she doesn't know there's been a shift in preference.
