Hello I've been using this headshot to submit to roles. It's the one I submit for most roles. Any thoughts on whether I should continue submitting this or should I get new ones?

Thank you for any opinions you can give.

Chad

In my opinion, everything about this Headshot is mediocre. It's not terrible, it's not great.

Your expression is a bit dead and something about the angle draws attention to the your neck which looks longer than I'm sure it probably is.....there is no real "catch light" in the eyes and it's flat overall. I am sure you can do much better.

Hi Chad, You have a solid theatrical look and I see the antagonist in your future (that's a good thing) Smiler I would say that in smaller markets, sure, this is a reasonable headshot considering the photographers available to you.

However, you're in Los Angles and this shot does not represent the quality you should be acquiring when you're here, fighting for jobs! My main concerns are pretty standard as they are with most mediocre headshots on these boards, flat lighting and uninspired direction. I simply don't see the difference between this and a snapshot taken with a point-and-shoot camera.

There's not much life here and if you're going for those antagonist roles you deserve the quality that will take that direction to the next level, i.e., finding that character through extensive work with your photographer, kicking the wardrobe into gear with darker colors, finding the mischief in your eyes, etc. The background is also reminescent of a passport photo, there's nothing drawing me to you and your eyes.

Mind you, I make these comments based on what you have available in your market and the competition you are up against in that market. As a CD with a stack of 100 villains on my desk, would this image stand out? I'm not too sure.

Good luck! Smiler

You have a great look facially but I need to be really frank here-

I HATE that hair on you. I think it is the hairdo of a teenager, not a manly man which is how I see you. I have never had to tell a guy to get an age appropriate hairdo before but I am telling you now.

It will also limit you hugely as you do indeed have a wonderful, bad ass look that could really help you but the hairstyle totally contradicts it.

I want to see you shot like this-

a three quarter shot with you in a muscle tee with your arms crossed, and a brick wall in the background. THAT would be perfect to submit for the thug stuff.

I also want to see you slicked up in a business suit as then you could submit for the more gangster-type roles or attorney stuff too.

I tell you- you could play scary!

I also would love to see a commercial shot with a big, warm smile to show your cuddly side too.

I hope this helps.

I agree with the above, there just isn't enough life in the eyes...I'm sure it looks better printed out though.

Hey there,
You have the perfect headshot look. Everything seems okay except for the lighting and quality of the picture. The thing about the picture is everything seems subtle but your hair becomes the center of attention all of a sudden. Perhaps, you could change your hairstyle and try some more shots. Best of luck!

Those are two very important aspects of a headshot!

I would say, with the proper lighting, by a competent photographer, you will get great shots. You have a very strong look, and a marketable type.

Good luck.

I would add that the gray design on your shirt is a little distracting...
