Hello, I just received the proofs for my new headshot...and I don't know, perhaps I have looked at them too much now, but am hoping there is a keeper in this bunch? Appreciate any feedback as these are my first headshots.

P.S. - wasn't sure how to attach more then one file, so sorted them to a Flickr folder.

I like this shot.

Good character representation.

Just soften the skin on the shadow side, and good to go.

Wow! Who did those? Peter Konerko?

In addition to Robert's advice, crop it portrait. The landscape cropping is limiting in that when you post your photos on LA Casting, Actors Access, etc., the photos are tiny thumbnails when you submit to the casting director. When in landscape, it's even smaller than everyone who has a well cropped portrait headshot, thus making it harder for the CD to notice you.

Thanks a million for the feedback! These are just the proofs so they haven't been retouched yet, I made a note of your suggestions for when we finalize. Oh, and to answer your question ElDorado...Vanie Poyey was my photographer.

Thanks for taking the time...it really helps to get feedback from an unbiased source.

Oh yeah! That's the photographer who advertises with a guy eating his tie!

I thought I would add a couple more just to get some further opinions. I am a little self conscience about my teeth, not sure if good or bad to show in my headshot or not, but since I am going out for character roles, maybe it's a good thing? Anyway, appreciate your opinions...

Overall, I LOVE these shots.

My minor nitpicks are:

Your skin looks too cool, as in lacking enough magenta and yellow. It seems the color balance was off slightly, but this can easily be fixed in post. Then again, maybe that's the photographer's "style." He seems to have invested in making your eyes pop.

If my eyes are correct, I also have a hunch that your facial features are a little distorted -- the lens used was not long enough, so features have been slightly ballooned out. Again, possibly a style choice, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

Great overall, like I said Smiler

Thank you Jim, yes...I guess I should have added that these have not yet gone to post production, and that I am just trying to choose 2 pictures to go with for now. I agree that the make up looks a bit bright, but I assume that'll be an easy fix...gulp, at least I hope! Smiler I appreciate the feedback though.

Nice!

My personal preference is for the non-smiling shots, and definitely not the one with the hat.

The rest are very nice.

Best,

I think the ones where you're not smiling are more versatile, but I personally love the smile. There is so much more personality when you're showing your teeth, the smile is really infectious. Overall, I think the last photo is the best, but I also really like the first one of you smiling with your teeth showing. Good luck!
