Hi All,

My 6-year old wants to try out modeling. I wanted to get some feedback on this headshot!

Thanks!
Heather

He's cute, but who told you that you needed headshots for kids with no experience?

A perfectly usable headshot.

I'd just Photoshop those little bags out from under his eyes, a common occurance when shooting outdoors.

Please remove this picture with your kid's name on it ASAP. I am no expert but it took me two minutes to get your name and other info. First name begins with an H?

You need to be aware that not everyone has good intentions and publishing personal info is dangerous.

Love this headshot! The only thing I would change it to take his name off to post in a public forum (you can never be too careful).

Sorry to freak you out. I am sure nothing bad will happen but I needed to warn you and other parents.

I wanted to add it is a lovely headshot and i would not fix the eyes one bit. For print, they use all kinds of kids, not just perfect ones and his baggy eyes add character.

Dark, unsightly bags under the eyes are entirely appropriate for tired old men, not children.

The sun has artificially exaggerated Xander's under eye area to an excessive degree, and needs to be corrected before duplicates are made. DO NOT completely remove them, simply reduce them, say by 50%. After this simple procedure, you'll notice an immediate and dramatic improvement in your child's headshot.

Afterwards, please re-post his headshot so everyone can compare.

Thanks for the advice! I'll have it touched up and re-post it (sans his name this time!) to get opinions!

This dramatically illustrates my point.

Notice how the focus is shifted directly to your son's eyes, instead of the bags?

Excellent job!

What a fantastic difference! That was a great advice given by Robert Kim... I wish I had read this post earlier. My son also had unusually dark bags under his eyes b/c it was shot outside in the sun light. They completely removed it & I feel it doesn't quite look like him. It lacks character & looks too perfect.
Bty, that is a great head shot of your ds.

Great editing - did you do it yourself with Photoshop? Gotta learn how to do this . . .

And I know what golfmom means - my DD's headshot was touched up professionally and it makes me a bit uncomfortable because now she looks too perfect (removing a little acne was one thing, but her teeth are too white and her skin is just too gorgeous . . . ). I loved the photos at first, but feel funny now submitting them! So I'd like to be able to do touchups myself, or at least try a few options and get her a little more realistic looking!!

And your DS is adorable - you can see a great personality just from the photo!
