Well, it's clear this isn't a headshot but rather a snapshot of you--lovely as it is. Whether you can use it or not depends on where you'd be using it and what for. I see you are in VA....if you are looking for a shot for non-professional work outside of a professional market you might be able to get by with this. What I mean is if you are looking to do some very beginning work at a college or community theatre, this might be okay. BUT if you are targeting pro jobs or a larger market, you'll need to invest in quality headshots done by a qualified, experienced photographer.
And COLOR is a must.
Good luck!

I couldn't agree more. It is in fact a lovely shot and you have a great look, but if you're looking to book gigs on a larger scale you will in fact need to invest in professional shots.

Perhaps your question would be better expressed this way: "SHOULD I be using this as a headshot?"

Take a good look at these posts. The most common subject you'll see are people asking the same question -- "IS THIS SNAPSHOT GOOD ENOUGH?" This business is far too competitive to break into with a cheap or unflattering headshot.

As a professional photographer perhaps I'm biased, but I'm a working actor as well. "Good enough" is simply not 'good enough.' The only performances anyone remember are great ones. The only headshots that casting directors remember are great ones. If you want to be recognized as a professional actor, first you have to LOOK LIKE ONE.

At first when I saw your pic I thought it was distorted. Upon closer inspection it is actually the wall behind you that makes your face look stretched out. You have beautiful eyes, and you are very pretty. You would do good to get a more professional headshot.

Headshots are done in color now.
