Hi there,

I have used Argentum in the past to print my headshots. The quality of print is great, but they use a thin photo paper. Anyone know of a printer out there who uses a thicker paper? Maybe even with the possibility to print my resume on the back?

Thanks for your help!

NEVER print your resume on the back of your headshot.

Always use a separate piece of paper and securely attach it to the back with four staples.

May I ask why? Thought it comes across as more professional to print it on the back.

Not if the resume is outdated.
The problem with printing on the back is the fact that a good acting resume is contantly being updated. You also put your agent's logo and contact info on your resume (NOT on the headshot, unless they're paying for it). What if you leave them? Now you're stuck with headshots with resumes printed on the back that are inaccurate. Covering the agency logo/contact info looks even more unprofessional.

Even if you don't have an agent, what if you become SAG, land your first major film/tv role, or undergo some major training AFTER printing a bunch of headshots with the resume on the back? MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN!

Actually, I print resumes on the back of headshots as needed. That way it is up to date. Personally, I think it looks better than stapled pages on the back. I have gotten complements on that as well.
I'll get some input from my son's agent about adding his agency logo.

Print on the back of a photo and you'll encounter major smearing problems.

Yeah, this happened to me when I tried to do some postcards. How DOES one print on postcards? I've heard it said you can't handwrite b/c it looks unprofessional.

What I do is get those Avery Labels (there's rectangular ones), print what I need to say on it, and stick it on the postcard.

If you're talking about a letter on the back (ie. Thank you), I handwrite it so it sounds even more personable.

What if you get notified about an audition at the last minute? I always keep 5-10 headshots, printed resumes(that I can always switch out if I have any major updates), and a stapler in the car.

I am not completely sure, but I believe reproductions has a special paper that avoids this problem. Check with them -- of course it costs more, but for people who want to print on the back of their photo using a home printer, it may be worth looking into.

Printing on Master Heavy photos from Reproductions was not a problem for my Canon multi-function printer. But I do the same as Eldorado now. I have a convenient little keychain stapler that collapses so that staples don't catch on anything. So great I have to plug it: http://www.amazon.com/SWI79137-Stapler-Collapsible-Sheets-Silver/dp/B0016P44RS

Westchester: I've scanned agency vouchers and cut and pasted the logos onto my resume. Scanning stickers or business cards sometimes works, too.

I don't think paying the extra premium for the heavier stock makes any difference.

Wasted money.

In L.A., we can't freelance in Theatrical and Commercial like you can in NY. So we are usually required to put our Commercial/Theatrical agent's logo with their contact info underneath on our resumes.

Ditto. Never had smearing issues either. Just wait a few minutes before messing with them. FYI that was with Reproductions- the paper they use. I am shopping around now for someone new as they just got way too greedy. Maybe I'll try Spotlight Printing next. They are CHEAP.
